    ** ROM ** Polaroid AS8 ** Rooted + TWRP + Tuned ***

This is a new release of the AS8 ROM.. This ROM has been tested by me on my device.. I basically worked on adding functionality such as:

    init.d support /etc/init.d/
    sysctl support /etc/sysctl.conf
nano cli support ( nothing against vi- i am just use to nano)

I have also made several modifications to how the system actually works.. listed below:

Swapped SDCARD and EXTSD - the cards will be switched by the flash.. (it shouldn't delete anything on your existing extsd card.. however, the existing sdcard will be formated..) do not have anything on either cards that are not backed up.. because this is still a test ROM..

I moved dalvik-cache from the data partition to the cache partition..

    GU-AS8-TWRP-Modded-tuned Rom download

**** DO NOT USE THIS ROM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACTUAL EXTERNAL SDCARD TO USE *****
BOOTING THE DEVICE WITHOUT AN ACTUAL EXTSD TO MAP WILL CAUSE THE FIRMWARE ISSUES

** Again... this will FORMAT the old built in sdcard .. it should not format the external card.. **.

as always. give me feedback.. i think you guys will like it.. it works great on my tablet.. I think it is actually faster than the original pre-google rom..

Another thing... please give this ROM some time for the first boot.. it is doing somethings in the background.. just give like 2 minutes after you see the welcome screen to start using it..

enjoy.. PLEASE USE POLL ABOVE SO I CAN SEE IF I AM MAKING A DIFFERENCE... thnks

    **EDIT**
This is a fix for the pulldown menu being unreachable.. This also addresses some market compatibility issues.. Download propswitch.. unzip.. plug tablet into computer.. double click the DOUBLECLICK-ME.BAT.. if you get an error - reboot tablet and try again.. if it still does not work you have a driver issue..

Directly flash this on a fresh tablet ?

Just got another new tablet from Kohls, starting afresh.

Can I simply flash this directly on it?
Or do I have to flash one of your previous ROMs before doing this one?

I just dont want to commit same mistake of doing ROM update from Polaroid then loosing adb ability.
Is there a sequence of steps that I need to follow and/or avoid?

Confirmed works well. If only there was a way to install the OS on the external SD instead of the internal, might be a lot faster that way, but all in all installed it last night was a lot smoother. Keeping a eye on CM11 in the other thread hopefully the guy gets it to work.

I can make it as an install on the external.. you are the only one who has mentioned it.. it will be a major change of the system so it wouldnt be quickly implemented..

That would be awesome performance wise. I have read a lot of complaints on the kohls website about this device but I guess they haven't discovered these threads. I have talked to Dhacker29 who is a xda developer to build a CM11 rom for this device but he didn't want to touch it.

Yes James. I'm assuming you're relatively new here (and/or to Polaroid tablets). You'll find that "We" (most recently just "I") are the only ones willing to work on these bad boys.

guessyet, I really appreciate all your contribution on making this a8 a better tablet, you and the rest of the guys working on it. It did make a difference, all though performance is still laggy at times. You see, my main concern is having a kernel that would be compatible so I can swap memory so that I get that virtual sd card ram. I am a total noob so I really don't know much of this stuff. All I want is more ram for better performance. Thank you all

Thanks so much and some feedback

Thanks guessyet, feels much better than stock, no doubt. Here are few things I noticed (class 6 32gb card).

                      1. After flashing tablet is recognized by the laptop when connected and mounts 2 removable drives, but cant access them from the laptop.
                      2. Ran Antutu after flashing 8060. Bumped up CPU using nofrills CPU to 1.2ghz performance governor, antutu is 6060, I was expecting it to go up, but was weird. No noticeable performance difference.
                      3. Official XBMC and SPMC dont install, but minix version installs and HD playback is smooth with stock libstagefright. Havent tried multiple varieties of HD files, just a 720p 5.1 DD.

The 2 drives should be accessible if you enable USB sharing on the device. Doing so will tell the tablet to unmount them for use by PC. When you get done transferring files simple turn USB sharing off. The device will remount them. The 2 drives are both internal and external sdcards.

I have also had weird results with antutu. Like running 5 tests back to back and there is as much as 1500 point fluctuations with making no changes. I am looking at other alternatives to test the device that will give more stable results.

                              Screen calibration?

Just flashed. Seems to be working fine. Only problem I have found so far is the screen doesn't seem to be properly calibrated?

When vertical it works fine (power plug is on top/bottom), but when the screen is horizontal (the power/volume buttons are on the top or bottom) I am unable to access the notifications or other things that are near the top of the screen.

I don't see a way to calibrate. Any ideas?
