When vertical it works fine (power plug is on top/bottom), but when the screen is horizontal (the power/volume buttons are on the top or bottom) I am unable to access the notifications or other things that are near the top of the screen.

I don't see a way to calibrate. Any ideas?

        Be patient my fellow.
Use Nova launcher and you can assign swipe down gesture to expand notifications in all views, so you dont get stuck waiting on this.

Works on post flash boot, but cannot re-boot

I just added a 32GB MicroSD card and installed this version which switches extsd and sdcard. After the flash completes the devices boots and sets up okay. I am able to see and browse music on the SD. However, when I turn the device off and try to turn it on again, it is stuck on the Polaroid welcome screen and just spins. I reflashed it and it is doing the same thing again.

Yep, same here. Works fine once after flashing, but after rebooting the device becomes stuck on permanent bootloop.

                Prop-switch problem

I installed GU-AS8-TWRP-Modded-tuned Rom download with no problem, I click on the double click me.bat and it starts running, it says remount succeeded, cannot stat 'build prop' : no file or directory.
Clicking on OK restarts the tablet but the drop down menus still do not work. What am I doing wrong?
I am a very "new" newbie on here.

Thank you for the Rom and all your hard work.
And thanks for the help in advance.

                  Prop-switch problem resolved

I use the tablet horizontal (power button on top)and the drop down menus don't open. I just used it vertical and they opened just fine. Works great, I'll just have to turn it before trying to open them.
Thank you for letting me vent.

                    Your welcome..

Did you extract the contents of prop-switch.zip? If you downloaded prop-switch.zip in windows and double-clicked the zip file, you will open a zip viewer window.. You will be able to see the files and double click them. However, it only extracts the file you double-clicked. The other files will still be inside the zip archive and unreachable by the file you double-clicked.. This will explain the situation you described..

You will need to right-click on the prop-switch.zip file and select extract.. tell the program where you want to extract the contents to and then run the doubleclickme.bat from that location..

Please let me know if this is not what is happening..

                      ROM Polaroid AS8

Currently using this rom. My question Should i be using a overclock app? Tablet goes unresponsive normally. I hit the power button to get the screen back on and nothing. Sometimes i have to power off or attach charger. Also if i move my apps to sd and reboot they dissapear. Just wonder if there is anyone else having these problems or have a solution?

Ok, I guess I need a little more information as to how this will flash the new rom. I downloaded and extracted the zip file to a folder on my windows pc, then ran the batch file both with usb debugging enabled on the S8 and with usb storage enabled. Same result - the batch file returns an error saying device [which I assume is the S8] not found. I kinda assume - tho it isn't stated in this thread - that I'd have to go thru a boot sequence to flash the new rom after it got on the device but so far haven't gotten that far. Any help appreciated. Oh - a couple of critical pieces of additional info: OS is Win7 x64 and first time I connect S8 to PC with USB debugging enabled, Windows detected the device as "Android" but couldn't locate a driver for it. So that's probably the first hurdle. Can anyone give me a link to the appropriate driver?

So, solved the driver issue via SnapPea and re-ran batch file with usb debugging enabled. What now?

The only thing the batch file does is change the props out.. It does not install a complete rom..

                            1. You will need Phoenix Suite to install a new ROM..
You can get it here. ** FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IN POST**

                            2. Then, you will need to download the ROM you want to install.. I currently have 3 different ROMs for you to choose from..

Two are in this thread: ** Pre-Google Apps Rom & Google Updated Rom **

One in this thread: ** Google Updated Rom with tuning and sdcard swap **
**Same thread we are currently in **

Follow the thread instructions on how to flash. It has been explained several times.. As far as drivers go, you can download a universal driver I have from
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

Just manually direct the android device in device manager to the drivers above and select the .inf file..

Other than that.. you should be set on getting a different rom on your device.. Good Luck..

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl then... One last question - if I install the ROM indicated at the top of this thread, then do I still need to apply the prop switch or is that incorporated into the new ROM?

UPDATE: Ok, install went pretty smoothly per your directions and I went ahead and ran the prop switch batch file as well. Result is rooted S8 with swapped SDCARD and EXTSDCARD - resulting in a cheap tablet that's actually usable - basically how it should have been to start with. Sweet. Thanks a bundle.
