OK, like I said, I've given up on an ICS ROM and started working on the JB ROM I started several months ago. I was able to get the ICS to boot and run as a rooted ROM, but I could not add Google Apps.

This ROM is a hybrid of my work and Lollonova, who posted the base ROM a while back. He agreed to let me take his ROM a step further.

This ROM is ready for release, but keep in mind that we ARE TALKING ABOUT THE 10G2, which is a little long in the tooth. This ROM boots and runs fine, it's just not as snappy as the last GingerComb ROM that Bob made.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Init.d support
    Busybox commands added
    Debloated
    Working CWM Recovery
    UI Mods by Snakekiller
    Reboot app by Petrus
    Boot animation by Tattman65
    Flash Tool by Finless

I included my First Time User's Guide

Another feature I added is the Auto Install on first boot. You can verify that it worked by seeing whether the Reboot app appears in the app drawer. CWM Recovery is installed after the Reboot app is installed. I have to credit Leolas and 900Supersport for bringing this recipe to my kitchen.

You will notice that on first boot, you will see that Stock Recovery is running to format all of the partitions. This will be the only time you see Stock Recovery...CWM will take over after the first boot. I've tested it and it does work.

If you have an external SD card and you have some apps you would like to auto install, just place the apk files in a folder called autoinstall on your external SD. Just make sure there are no spaces in the file names of the apk files. On first boot, bring up the app drawer and you can watch these apps populate. Just remember to wait a few more seconds for CWM to install last.

    Download

Be warned that the first boot takes a REALLY LONG TIME...so don't give up on it.

I'll post a new thread in the Arnova section, if you guys think the ROM is worth it.

well i had to revert all the way back to stock , came right to life and everything is fine .

go figure . the flash showed all good results , both times .

then the tab would just sit black screen and the tool would look like the tab was in flash mode .

any thoughts ? i mean i've flashed alot of stuff at this point sooooo i know it's not me.

you said it ran fine on your tab , right Randy ?

I tried both the ICS (with the parameter file included and with the 1Gb one) and JB with no luck.

After flashing the JB rom, I'm stuck in flash mode. I tried to reset a few times, it keeps going back to flash mode. Only way to get out of it is flash only misc partition, but each time it reboots to stock recovery, formats /data, and reboots into flash mode.

Do you have a misc img without the reboot-revovery string inside, so I can try to flash it to reboot to system?

With the ICS test version, it reboots to recovery, formats data, then is stuck on the ARNOVA boot screen.
I'll let it there for some time to see if it finally boots.

                      LOL

By the way, don't bother with misc.img. I used a hex editor to remove the strings and make it full 00.
It just rebooted to flash mode.

But I believe it works for him.
Once, I compiled a kernel from sources for the 10G2. It never booted for me. But it booted on Bob's 10G2, even if it was very slow. Go figure...

Have you tried different kernels? I couldn't get the ics ROM to boot with the kernel from that ROM so I used the jb kernel and it worked.

On these pipo tablets with oc kernels...they work on some...but not all of the tablets.

BTW, it did cross MY MIND that YOU were getting old, and trying to flash this ROM on your G3....hahaha!!!!! The G2 IS the one with the big USB port on the side....right? Hahaha!!!!!!!!!

OMG! You mean the 10G2 is not the square shaped box with MINIX written on it?

Same effect to me. Pad boots only in black screen.

Short update.... Seems it depends on the kernel.
Changed the kernel to the version of the ICS build. Now it boots up, but surprise, surprise, no touch ...... argl.

                              Greetings
                              Chris
