Thank you for pointing out. So it looks like it works for your mk802 that has special rom with option for real passthrough.

I modified my MK808 rom based on MK808 Nov 2013 Geekbuyers rom + Beelink MK808B Mar 2014 kernel. I've replaced audio driver and firmware files from /system/lib,hw and etc, and settings.apk and settings-provider.apk with those from the rikomagic mk802 Mar 2014 rom. The HDMI PASSTHROUGH sound option can be selected, but unfortunately doesn't work: in MX Player and XBMC there is the clicking noise when passthrough is selected. We need to find a rom for a similar device which has passthrough and transplant the kernel. Alternatively we must build a kernel from sourcecode which has passthrough config options. I also tried the MK802iiiS kernel, but unfortunately not booting (stuck on splash). Anybody who knows other devices similar to MK808 with roms including HDMI PASSTHROUGH ??

Good news ... the Rikomagic MK802iiiS rom rocks on my MK808 and HDMI passthrough works fine. More details will follow.

I will try to provide debloated roms with 1080p kernels for mk808 and mk808b next week. You can have a quick start by installing and test this rom "Rikomagic MK802IIIS8G(B) Android 4.2 Software(131107" from here:

There is a chance that wifi does not work on your mk808b, in that case use a cheap usb-ethernet adapter. The rom should boot up and offer you both MULTI5.1 and PASSTHROUGH devices.

Unlikely, because that rom is for mk802iiiS 1st generation which has a MT5931 wifi & MT6622 Bluetooth.

Perhaps it is possible to patch just the system modules configuration to provide the matching wifi drivers, but I am afraid the kernel also must match wifi chipset. Some more research needed.

Hi jockyw2001. Any luck finding out how to port the 5.1 audio functionality to other sticks (MK808 and mk808b)?
It's good having the 5.1 sound working but just a shame loosing the wifi...

Hi Jockyw2001 - any success with a 1080p + PASSTHROUGH ROM for MK808? Or can you give instructions how to patch the Rikomagic ROM with e.g. another kernel such that it supports the MK808 wifi?
