X7 008 OTA update?

I updated to 009 using the update.zip

I lost my root, need to reroot it. Additionally video playback is ruined, seems like they forgot to apply the vsync patch on this rom

Any ideas how to keep CWM ?

Just reflash the CWM recovery image with RKAndroidTool after first boot.

If they rolled back to 006 sources, they may have overlooked this. Sloppy, sloppy...

Tried. It did not help. After next reboot it is replaced again by stock recovery.

FYI this update is in fact a zip with edify script!
Kernel is in boot.img
System if reformatted and files written from the script.
Recovery is also flashed via the script which is why you loose CWM.

It also applies a recovery script which is why CWM is lost every reboot. All you need to do is delete the install-recovery.sh from /system/etc and it wont keep over writing CWM.

FYI, I don't think I will be messing with this firmware until some benefit shows up to do so.

Long story .. but in short..
i wanted to start an ota update service and announced it on there site and asked if minix would start one in the near future.. just fo me to know if it would be meaningfull.
( was intended for minix only at that time )
They banned me after a day when minix seen the topic and said i was forcing them to make OTA work :S.. and removed the topic.
They Launched there OTA service the day after :S
Got an excuse mail from the dev dept and my account was reinstalled the day after.
Sinds that dat the forum admin has some difficulties with me.
I allso expressed my thoughts over the devellopers contest there, i think its bad that patchers or issue fixing devellopers can not join. ( not that i need a price btw.. )
But i think people like stafstrom and such should be able to join instead of a app develloper who brings a nice UI to never see again on the community.
They prevere nice looking graphics above issue solving....
So when the OTA failed yesterday i had a laugh in public.. maybe not the best thing to do but i think understandable from my point of vieuw..
They pretend to be an "Unofficial forum" but censorship is all over the place.
There are a lot of topic closed and people banned for public eyes..

There is way more to it but i will be writing a book lol.

Maibe we should stay on topic here for now.. dont want to be the one starting another meaningless fight over minix.. spend too many time on that allready

Anyway.. i will post my public FW here for testing later today..

an overkill solution is to rename rkupdateservice.apk to. bak
no more nags but no more ota xD

i i'm not wrong, there's another way to do this, this app establishes your rom as version 1.0.0 if it can't find any other value in build. prop. The OTA 009 is set to version 1.0.1, so, you just have to set a higher value like this :
ro.product.version=6.6.6 in your build.prop and you're done.

or change the ro.product.ota.host to empty
Dit not test it but it will probably not generate traffic anymore ( better if you are streaming a movie)
In my rom i just removed the .apk
