It worked I copied the conf from Daemonium/Slayer ROM as I had installed.
I managed to have a quick play with the system this morning and found a couple of bugs in settings:
Mbox Settings- Location - all in Chinese
Ethernet needs to be set up in 'Mbox Settings', did not work in 'Settings'
This is my remote that this conf works with:

Please try this. Flash your ROM that works with your remote.
Then using ES File explorer copy out the remote.conf from /etc
Now flash my ROM and copy that file into /etc replacing the one in my ROM.
If that works for you I will make a simple small update.zip to add that file to my ROM for others.

There are a number of people from the Matricom form who had the same issue with WiFi. And here is the fix:
World's #1 selling Android TV Box since 2011 - Discover why millions of people choose the G-Box as the best Kodi streaming media player in the world!
Using Root Explorer go to data/misc/wifi
- Click and hold the OK button on wpa_supplicant file
- Click Delete And Confirm
- Go to Settings or SettingsMBox and turn on your Wifi
- Select your wireless network and enter your password
- Go back to enjoying your GBOX!!!
Hope this helps.

Again this is probably due to the wifi chip used. Just because it's a ref board does not mean they used the same wifi chip. Chances are in my ROM it is using a different KO file for wifi. I would need the KO file that works on your board and we should be able to get it working.

Ok, I tried to flash the Acemax firmware which I think is what my box came with and got this:
Anyway, left it switched on and stuck a sdcard in with Slayer ROM and it booted
WIFI working on Slayer so have included file from that ROM
There was also 8188eu.ko and 8192cu.ko, to big to upload here.cfg80211.zip

I need one more thing. DMESG log.
Boot my ROM and install terminal emulator from google play.
Type this:
su
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
I need that log to see what it is loading. Hopefully copying in that KO and renaming it to what the kernel from my ROM is trying to load will make it work.

Doesn't make sense.
OK so please do the same on Slayer ROM and give me dmesg.
Sorry for making you do this but the last dmesg did not give me any clues

Bob
I cleaned the cach before each of these installs so have uploaded both Slayer and another for your Rom.

OK some progress.
My ROM looks to be loading the 8192cu wifi driver and of course fails on your hardware.
The Slayer ROM is loading the rtl8188eu driver.
Now we may be able to "trick it".
Copy out the rtl8188eu.ko file from the slayer ROM. Put it on SDcard.
Now flash my ROM and rename the 8192cu.ko to .old and copy in the rtl8188eu.ko file. Then rename it to 8192cu.ko. The kernel will then think the rtl8188eu.ko file is the 8192cu and it might work.
Oh and please look at the permissions of the KO files and when you copy in the rtl8188eu make sure to set the permissions the same! ES FIle explorer will allow you to edit the permissions.
Then reboot and see if you get wifi.

Hey folks guess what?
By using the bootloader and boot.img from my Prometheus ROM, I can boot the MX2 system ROM from it
This means I can work on a MX2 ROM and test.
Now to have some fun
That MX2 ROM here:
has a lot of bloat, old APPS, etc etc...
Is this the latest ROM I should work on?
Bob
Is this for mx2 midnight or some other mx2?

Understand I cannot use the MX2 kernel or recovery on my Prometheus. I don't have a MX2 to test on 100%. But the systems and images work between the 2 devices!
This is how I was able to make a MX2 ROM and at least test the basics.
So this is BETA 1.0
Notes:
- I have not edited boot.img so init.d and other performance tweaks I do are not there yet.
- This is not the MX2 ROM. I used parts from many other AML MX ROMs to make this ROM.
- This is the MX2 boot.img, bootloader, and recovery. Thus flashing this should not cause a hard brick.
- I did some basic work in /system like update all Google stuff, update framework, debloat!
What I want you to test before the next release!
- Wifi
- Ethernet
- Go into settings>display and turn off auto detect and try setting different resolutions. I want to know if this works with the MX2 kernel.
- App compatibility
- Anything else you find
I give no README in this ROM right now. I expect you to know how to flash ROMs and recover. If you don't know how to do that, then this is NOT for you!
Instructions:
Download below.
Unzip it and put the 3 files on SDcard.
Boot your MX2 (which I do not know how to do as I do not have a MX2) into recovery or flash mode.
Let it do it's thing! I am using AML Auto script. If you want to apply the update manually, delete this from the 3 files on SDcard. BUT if you do that, please use recovery menu to do a factory erase or you might have problems.
WARNING!
This is a new ROM not an update! It will erase and format your device making it like factory!
BACKUP anything you need to keep!
OK here we go.... Download link:
ROM -> MX-2 Finless ROM, BETA 1.1 (233 megs)
Happy testing and keep me informed!
Bob
