    Arnova 9G2 - ICS - FULLY ROOTED - ROM V1.0 by Finless

    OK.... So with the success of my STOCK ICS ROM posted here:

    This is the same ROM but fully rooted!

    THIS IS A TEST ROM! It is not an official release from Arnova! I have taken the stock ROM and fully rooted it! You are on your OWN with this! I cannot NOT gaurentee this is NOT a brick ROM! BUT it boots on my Arnova 10G2 so I am pretty sure it is not a BRICK

    Again SPECIAL THANKS to the user on the Italian forum for dumping this ICS 9G2 ROM! And big thanks to FreakTab user fillab for sending me the ROM today! You guys ultimately MADE this ROM happen

    Features of this first Finless 1.0 ROM - ICS for the 9G2
    1) It's fully rooted! System is now mounted is RW. System was already ext3 but not RW.
    2) SU and Superuser.apk for ICS is installed! These are different version needed than GingerBread
    3) Full root access is given by permissions set when making the ROM

    So you all know. boot.img was very different! It took me a while to figure it out. It is not like the Arnova GingerBread ROMs. However, I got it apart and cleaned up the crap left behind that is not needed!


    Anyway for those that want to try it, here is the 9G2 ICS ROM "fully rooted" Version 1.0 by Finless:

    DOWNLOAD ROM -> Arnova 9G2 ICS FULL ROOT ROM V1.0 - by Finless (125 megs)


    PLEASE READ THE README.TXT inside this kit.
    YOU MUST and I am serious about this MUST EraseIDB and click the loader check box in the flash tool! This has a new loader version 2.14 and you must use it! Actually I tested and Loader 2.08 (old version) works too but it is slow compared to the new version. BUT do what I say please to be sure!



    Enjoy you 9G2 users and let me know how it all works!

    I will now work on getting Gplay Pre-installed! It will take a day or two though.

            Up and running with rooted ROM v1.0

            Bob,

            I've flashed my 9G2 with your latest offering and it seems to be working well - as well as the stock ICS ROM. The only issue I seem to have is the touch screen seems to be a little too "twitchy" in landscape mode. When using the on screen keyboard it's as though keys are being selected that my finger is no where near. I've gone back to stock ICS and that seems to also suffer from this. I don't think it's a hardware issue as your original 1.5 ROM doesn't have this problem. Maybe there's a screen config setting not quite right?

            I've tried calibrating the screen but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I will persevere though so when you have gmail / play ready to roll, I'm up for giving it a go.

              First time I ever replied to one of these - hope I get it right. Your Ics mod working fine on my 9g2.I'm getting a bit old to learn
              new tricks but your guide got me through OK.Many thanks finless - great job,

                    Question folks... Sure wish I could test this damn thing.

                    But does the settings menu have "Contacts and Sync" in it? Or is it missing again like all Arnova ROMs?

                    Other stuff missing from settings?

                      Awesome!!!

                      All,

                      Flashed my 9G2 with latest 1.2 ICS ROM and it's bloody awesome. This is something we've all been waiting for ... this is really great! Google play set up without issue, and I've installed everything I need. And I can confirm accounts & sync are there in the settings.

                      Here's some pics to prove how pretty my little Arnova now looks

                            I would recommend trying Apex launcher to improve it even further. There is a fully functional free version and also a pro version!
