Thank you for the prompt attention and info. It's greatly appreciated!

Got the contacts (people) working with no issues that I see.
Calendar seems to be syncing ok, but I have no shortcut to the calendar

What I've done:
Collect the needed apks
Copy them all to /system/apps
Reboot once, and 'people' showed up
Rebooted again nothing new
Copied packages.xml out so I could mod it on the desktop.
removed all the references to shareduser and userid
Put back and rebooted.
Calendar sync still shows good, but no shortcut.
Should there be something like 'calendar.apk' in my apps folder?

Fortunately, I copied 'em before I reflashed the tablet. They go in the /mnt/sdcard folder (the internal storage).

Thanks for having these up.
All in all this is an ok tablet for the price.
Once thing that is yet annoying is the Netflix issue but I think it will be resolved with time.
I'm able to stream videos from Xfinity (comcast), Viki etc... BUT NOT netflix.
I tried installing several web browesers (dolphin, skyfire) but when it comes to streaming neftlix it says i need to install MS silverlight and there is no way (at least I'm not that tech savvy) to install the silverlight.dmg file to allow the browser to support netflix streaming.
If anyone has gotten around this please drop a note or link to that thread.

Just tried it... no worky... Darn! The stereo out works fine even with a 4-conductor plug. I wonder if an external usb microphone would be supported. I don't have one, but if anyone does, please try it and let us know. Thanks. Jim

Information required on Data Reset.

If i need to reset my data (like unrooted unit). Does it work on this rooted ROM and clear all installed applications.

Factory data reset only erases user data. It does not take you back to a stock unrooted ROM. To do that you have to flash the stock ROM.

Need AC Power Supply for NEXT7S

Anyone know where I can get an AC Power Supply (5V DC) for the NEXT7S? The original one that came with the device broke a couple of days ago. I picked up one of those PowerLine Universal AC Adapters last night at Walmart but none of the 7 plug tips fit this particular NextBook.

How do i root my next7s? (nube needs help)

I recieved a NEXTBOOK NEXT 7S from my family members and so far cant stand it. The reason i wanted a android tablet was to watch netflix and be able to do at least half what my Motorola Photon 4g could do but mine is so far a diappointment. i am hoping to root and flash it and maybe get it to where i can use the thing without getting to where i want to throw it. Can i please get some help with what to look for rom wise and how to root and flash these things please.

Newbie needs help

Hi All,

First and foremost, Im new to the site and have never had any experience rooting phones or ROM's etc, so please forgive my newbness....I've been reading the site for the past couple days, and I recently purchased a Nextbook Premium(I think Premium) Next7S Android 4.0 ICS from BigLots and am annoyed that the GetJar store sucks bc I wanted to run Netflix and ESPN scorecenter app, but neither work. I really want to try and replace the ROM. If I were to attempt to flash a new ROM, how easy is it? Note: Im one of those ppl who can easily replicate what I see and not what I read, so these instructions are a lil harder for me to do bc I have to read what needs to be done as opposed to looking at what needs to be done. Any help is much appreciated.

Just flashed the Rom for my nextbook and wanted to say thank you to all involved, it was easier than i expected and worked like a charm...just a question, and forgive my ignorance, but what exactly are some of the benefits to a rooted tablet besides the ability to use the google play store?

not an external keyboard, but i plug in my generic ps3 controller to play emulators and onlive as long as its usb, it works great

Hi,

I was trying to insert sd card, but it went wrong and stuck inside, My husband opened a little bit cover and we pull it out, now its screen is not responsive in some areas, so I have to turn and move screen in different directions. It is painful when I type, for eg, letter q,w,e are not working then I move tablet longitudinally and they work. If anyone know what we did with our tablet and how to fix it. I searched on net and found out about calibration, not sure how to do that and if it is going to work or not? plz help!!!
