    MK808B 4.2.2 GPU 600mhz Overclocked Kernel

Users have asked for an overclocked 4.2.2 based GPU on this device - here's the highest stable speed I've attained.

    Sound good!

    Hello Shomari,

This sounds very good!! Is there any chance to make it compatible with MK808 non-b version?

    Thanks!

...you can try it, the kernel does work on non-B devices but as far as I understand DVFS is OFF by default on non-B variants so I'm unsure what behavior to expect as a result.

Thx for sharing Shomari! Can't wait to test it! Have you also increased the DDR frequency? 14300-14600 Antutu sounds great, have you used the stock interactive governor for these scores?

DDR is stock. Only GPU is tweaked and I use Ondemand governor.

hi Shomari, but you using Uhost2 or MK808b?
I have mk808B and stock rom 408j but dvfs is disabled (dmesg etc etc) i can see only ddr3 initialized at 360Mhz.

              gpu/cpu/ddr DVFS off.
mk808B woth stock 408j and fancooler ondemand 252/1600 i have 15000 Antutu (stock 408j kernel)

EDIT:i have flashed your mod kernel on my stock rom 408j (mk808b) after bootaniimation i can see only blackscreen........
remember that on MK808B dvfs always disabled.

If you are using Uhost2 with kernel mk808b your wifi/bt KO (gpio)

              init.rc stock boot 408j:
insmod /system/lib/modules/mali.ko mali_dvfs=50,100,133,160,200,266,400 mali_init_clock=50 but dvfs is disabled so this string have effect???? or dvfs not visible with dmesg/trickstermod etc BUT work.....
If dvfs working but not visible than your string :
insmod /system/lib/modules/mali.ko mali_dvfs=600 mali_init_clock=600 is a problem because after bootanimation i have blackscreen (gpu always 600Mhz high), then i can add 466,500,533,600 step with init 50 or 100.....

if dvfs not working ----->your string not have effect but i have Blackscreen..... so string have effect but not visible in log file.

dmesg dvfs is DISABLED but gpu step are 240 and 400, 240????? not present here :50,100,133,160,200,266,400

              sorry for bad english.

Not sure I follow @Mandrake2. These devices are a pain. I tested on an 808B; as posted above, verify clock speeds and check DVFS tables/status using method in this post:

The init.rc strings are what tie the OC freqs into the Mali driver. I don't know where you see 240 - that's common in stock kernels, it's a rounded down freq. used in RK3066. That's not included in the kernel I uploaded for obvious reasons, there's just no good reason to clock so low especially at those stock voltages, it makes no sense on non-battery powered devices.

I can't run any further tests for now, so I'll leave it to you guys. Also, be advised you'll need a robust power supply to run GPU at 600mhz.

                  sorry Shomari, 808B(rk903), which rom?
I am using 408j stock and with your boot/kernel i have blackscreen (I must use another power supply)?
kernel is tweaked? or it is stock 408j..

if you have tweaked only boot.img (init.rc string dvfs mali) i have add 466,500 but always blackscreen

Sorry, if it doesn't boot for you changing init.rc won't help, unfortunately.

In short if you have 15000 in AnTuTu score then i don't see reason why you are test Shomari OC kernel.

Thank you for all the effort in trying to get overclocked kernels working.

However, 37fps is extremely poor for Epic Citadel using 4.2 if indeed the GPU is supposedly running at that speed, so clearly something is still horridly broken - on 4.1 with Finless it's comfortable in the 50's. I also notice your 3D score on Antutu is pretty poor.

Edit: Just downloaded Antutu and ran a benchmark on that. On Finless 4.1 at 1080p I get a 3D score of 2003, so scores are close on that one. Epic Citadel is benchmarking at 33fps but that's pushing out native 1080p and 4.2 should run that faster.... So bizzare, but I wish you the best of luck figuring it out.

Would be interesting to see if this kernel has improved any GPU performance apart from an Antutu benchmark.

Speeds are confirmed using live kernel messages.

How does not work if you are tested on 808b version, interesting.

Why you hiding your FW another interesting point
Something is wrong in your story man, but i don't care .
Enjoy and good luck in overclocking.

If you didn't care, then you wouldn't post this passive aggressive nonsense.

I suspect different variants or 'clones' behave differently. This has been my experience. I cannot account for all hardware or even software.

What's wrong with my 'story'? I'm not 'hiding' 'my' firmware, in fact, I'm content enjoying my device with its customizations and tweaks to my leisure; I simply thought I'd help those who have requested OC for this chipset. I've posted 'my' (?) firmware in other threads, this is not a firmware related thread. What is there to hide, or better yet to gain, by obfuscating firmware?

If you suspect something ill is afoot, bypass my uploads and threads and be merry.

In any event, I'm removing the uploads and absolving myself from further testing and posting in this forum. Besides some reports of black screens, that's twice now I've received the same ridiculous insinuations as posted by the jester above, it's quite vexing and I don't have the patience for it.

I have much better ways to spend my time than to be undressed for 'hiding firmware' and telling 'stories'.
