Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 2.6 KitKat

This ROM is based on an official update posted by Pipo dated 2/12/14. This is beta release that was shared by a beta tester. The link to the stock version is in the v2.5 thread.

I haven't tested it yet, but GPS is now added to this ROM.

If you are flashing a KitKat for the very first time...YOU MUST LEAVE THE LOADER CHECKED in the flash tool. The loader has been updated as well, so if you are upgrading from 2.5...keep the loader checked.

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE FLASHING A KITKAT ROM ON YOUR M7 Pro...READ THIS THREAD!!!!!!!

Just beware that I was a little frustrated when I wrote that thread...so the tone is a little jaded...but the information is very important. Plus, if you do end up bricking your tablet, there is a solution in post #2.

    As usual this ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d Support
    Busybox Support
    English Default
2, 4, 6, 8, or 12gb user app space by changing parameter files
Multiple ko modules for VPN and other networking support added
Patched libril file to enhance deep sleep
    Boot Animation by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus
    Updated First Time User's Guide
Rockchip driver installer app is now included in the kit

There are two other features I've added that are pretty significant.

The auto install feature will allow you to install apk files (apps) from your external SD card, if you place the files in a folder called "autoinstall". You must take the spaces out of the file names for each of the apk files. It doesn't really matter what file name you choose, just no spaces.

The apps will populate to your app drawer shortly after the first boot is complete. Just wait for all of them to populate before you reboot. Wait a few more seconds after the last app, for the custom recovery to install last.

The next feature I've added in this ROM is TWRP custom recovery. This is similar to CWM, but BETTER...because it works. You will have a GUI interface with touch screen capability. Just be patient with the screens...there is a little glitch in the screen refresh that Freaktab Developer Abdul_Pt is working on. If you touch a button and nothing happens, just touch the back button at the top and you will get to the screen you want. Just play around with and be patient until we get everything ironed out.

If you have trouble with the TWRP within the ROM, you can manually flash this TWRP update from Abdul_Pt. (Just flash it by itself after first boot by un-checking everything except recovery in the flash tool. Browse the flash tool recovery line to wherever you downloaded this file. DON'T ERASE IDB when flashing just recovery, or you will erase the whole ROM) DOWNLOAD TWRP UPDATE

Let me say a few things about donations for a minute....

All of the funds I receive from you guys as donations go directly into supporting my hobby...making custom ROMs. With your help, I've been able to purchase many Pipo tablets to develop and test with. Thankfully, I have a good friend at Geekbuying.com who gives me a discount and occasionally sends me a sample (like he did with my M7 Pro). I've also added much needed equipment to my kitchen PC to make things go much easier. So your donations are greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

With Spring approaching, the 2014 models may soon be released, so I will need to order the newer tablets to continue with development efforts. Donations kind of slacked off around Christmas, so funds are quite low.

    So..........

If this ROM makes a difference for you, please consider a donation to support future RileyROM's here at Freaktab.com

This is for both version WiFi and 3G? Because I have M7PRO 3G version and I don't like restore to stock firmware.
And one question - GPS&3G work?

I just added an optional TWRP update in post #1.

It may still have the screen refresh problem, but it should mount your SD cards better.

As I mentioned, you need to flash this separately AFTER you've booted the ROM the first time. After some testing, I may release a ROM update with this new recovery included in autoinstall.

Just installed the rom and so far is working great. Only one thing that's a bit annoying. When I use the tablet "standing" it does not flow as well as when it's "laying down". Anybody now why?
Is there any benefits with using TWRP?

TWRP as a much more cleaner UI, as file manager, a terminal console and is fully themable.
Besides it fully supports KK, and to my knowledge, it's the only recovery available with all functions working correctly on KK.

Any solution to auto hide buttons bar and to disable cell standby for a non 3g model to avoid battery drain? Also i am having a drop in wifi signal about 20-30% compare to 4.2.2.

Any body else experiencing that is a little choppy while navigating the home screens when holding tablet in portrait mode? It's really fluid in landscape though.
My wifi signal also seems to be worse than before if I look at the wifi bar. But I really have the same range when testing it by walking around.

Any information about fixed or new functionalties (in addition to GPS) of RR 2.6?
How does this ROM compares to the 2.5 ROM - is it worth to flash?

ROM seems great, very smooth, well done.
Does anyone use mxplayer? I can't seem to get hw+ decoding to work using arm7neon codec with this ROM. Anyone else got this working?
