That's correct, if you are flashing the kernel to another ROM...but I've stripped the kernel from boot.img in all of my ROM's. So on a RileyROM, all you need to do is flash the Kernel.

There are a bunch of things I do in the boot.img, so it's best to leave that alone.

2. Unstable Wi-Fi

Any on the kernels is likely to improve it (especially the resets)?

There are a bunch of things I do in the boot.img, so it's best to leave that alone.

I've not said that boot.img should be untouched ramdisk.
Usually, I just add support for init.d and also root for KK ROMs and am doing it by adding few premade strings to init.rc using the simplest bash script. Sometimes by someone's request, I swap internal and external SD in KK too. imho nothing else needs modification in original ramdisk.

thehobit, these issues might be hardware related and there is no way to fix them except using kernel with downclocked CPU and resoldering WiFi antenna.

I haven't had the resets, but have WiFi problems. After a short while it just stops working - still shows connected but doesn't work. Turn it off and on again and it's fine again for another while...

I've posted one in the message #22. It has raised DDR freq though. Try it first. If needed, I can make one with all stock but reduced CPU max freq.
Already heard about other cases with this WiFi issue. Have a guess some tablets might have different WiFi chip which is almost the same broadcom based but curent KK drivers are not fully compatible.

First boot the tablet to flash mode. Then uncheck every box except kernel in the flash software. Point the software to the kernel you want and press flash rom. You don't need to erase IDB when installing a new kernel. It's as simple as that :-)

this rom is amazingly fast... can't believe it's the same tablet...

here is the kernel that i made, everything stock voltage, but cpu1704/gpu600/ram720 mhz [ATTACH]5605[/ATTACH]

it gave me 21179 points with antutu and 5680 with quadrant

Can anyone help me setting 1080p output using HDMI out. I am able to o/p only 720p 60Hz.
Setting to 1080p does not output anything.

In the tablet ui you have the notifications area like android 4.1 tablets, below in the right.

andye, try to change ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI=false to true in build.prop. Do not forget to check/change permissions after that. Of course needed root and system partition remount writable.

There is a choice. You may replace libril-rk29-dataonly.so with original one and will have better 3G but forget about deep sleep. This depends a lot on personal preferences and way of tablet use.
