Minix Neo X7 sdcard problem - not recognized

    Hi all,

    My situation:

minix neo x7 with stock 007 fw rooted, and cwm recovery installed

    My little problem:

To solve my big problem, I thought to try using cwm recovery as a first attempt: I'm not a newbie with android, but I don't know how to use CWM in this device, because I can't move through the menu ... there's no buttons on the minix, except the power button, with which I can just confirm the option selected when I enter the cwm recovery .. that is "reboot system" .. not very usefull ..... what the hell?? how can I navigate the cwm recovery menu??

    My BIG problem:

suddenly, without an apparent reason, my minix x7 doesn't recognize sdcard space .. so I lost all user data under /sdcard folder: I played with asphalt 8 after lunch, then I powered off the minix ... and after dinner, when I powered on the device, the sdcard wasn't recognized by minix system

I realized that thing when I noted that some apps disappeared on the app-drawer

infact, If I try to explore filesystem with a file browser (I use es file explorer) I receive a message that tell me "sdcard not mounted or not present"

I tried to switch off the minix and disconnected it from all the cables, then I reattached all and powered on the device .. no changes: sdcard not mounted or not present

I have also terminal emulator installed, so I would try to re-mount the sdcard, but ... I really don't know how to discover what block partition is the user space, so I can't write a command line that makes sense ...

I need some help: my first target is to try recovering sdcard

or at least, if it's not possible, I want to try saving the data (mainly /sdcard/Android/data and /sdcard/Android /obb folders and subfolders) on an external memory, and then I think it's a good idea to flash another (better if "custom" and rooted) rom

PLEASE, help .. I don't want to loose all data user before flashing another firmware

thank a lot in advance for any reply

I've seen this a few times, some people say it will come back after several reboots.
For the cwm... have you tried to connect a flymouse or a usb keyboard? it works for me.
I've noticed some of that people with this issue have been using xbmc , normal or launcher version.
Do you have xbmc installed or have been using it?
I just need this info to collect some data and maybe find where this issue comes from.

Thanks but I really don't think it's so simple .. I wish it's how you said but I've rebooted several times, disconnected from the power cable and so on .. but no success

of course I have xbmc installed .. who, with a minipc (android or not), does not have it?

the version is beyond xbmc (v. 3.3 if I remember correctly ... for sure is one between v. 3.2 and 3.3)

.. sorry but ... I think you didn't understand: I'm talking about the internal nand flash sdcard, not an external sd card ... so how can i remove it?

          thanks

what about the ir remote? is it working with cwm?

and, about xbmc, is it the normal or the launcher version?

Ok, I decided to buy a usb keyboard and now I'm on cwm recovery menu .. tried to mount sdcard without success

The recovery answered me that can't mount sdcard

So I went on the log sub menu and here is what I saw:

W: failed to mount /dev/block/mtd/by-name/user (Invalid argument)

I don't think that's the right mount point of sdcard ... never seen before a mount point called "/by-name/user" so I think at the moment sdcard is not readable
              -----------------------
Beyond xbmc: I have the app version, not the launcher launcher
              ------------------------

What can I do to solve this really big problem??

              Many thanks in advance

the mount point is correct, it looks that block is screwed. i don't know if there is a procedure to repair this, as i said i'm just collecting data. will try a deeper look when i find some time to expend on it. Btw, your feedback is very appreciated, thank you

yes the mount point is correct .. it points to /dev/block/mtdblock9

I tried to mount it on /sdcard but the results are the same that I received on recovery: invalid argument

                  any other help is appreciated

You mast format nand. The option is in settings /storage.

at last I was obliged to do it .. because also flashing a new custom rom (with a previous full wipe, obviously) didn't solve the problem ..

now the nand is available in the ordinary path /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard

but I've lost all user data, also my backups done with titanium backup app

I flashed the quickshot v2 firmware by nitroteam through cwm recovey

I'll test this rom in the next days to decide if to stay with it or to change to another custom rom

                      Regards

The backup folder of titanium mast be set in external sd.

Same issue - wanted to say thanks

                              Hi Everyone,

I have exactly the same issue. I actually continued to use the X7 and it worked fine, but just got a new 4K tv and Minix playback on it was awful (which surprised me - why would it be different to the old HD TV?)

So I'm hoping that the problem is the lack of nand sd, and also hoping this fix will work (going to try and report back)

I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum. The ROMS I have downloaded from here have been superb (currently running Hardware Guru 4, love it) and the help and advice is invaluable.

I wish the X7 wasn't so temperamental, I would expect more from what is arguably the best available Android box/stick (hardware wise, at least) but thank you all for continually getting me past each little hiccup.

Oh, and also, in reply to qllkevuoi's question - I am one who does not use XBMC! Never could get along with it. I use Plex, and I LOVE it. I know a lot of people really like XBMC, and that's good. But for me, Plex does exactly what I want and I'm able to set up the folders on my PC exactly as I would wish!
