They seem pretty excited about this one. Only thing is that it hasn't been tested on a box.

For me, i find it important to find a lot of firmware and patch and a lot of community support.

I agree. But this is a high en unit and I think it will be supported by the dev´s, Don´t you think?
It has first class hardware and open source.

Just remember your looking at the S802 chip and it doesn't do AC3/DTS pass through.

If your an audio guy who wants good sound from your movies your going to want to hold off till the s802/s802D/s802DD chip thing is sorted.

Note that pass through it mentions on the site is the HD version of Dobly AC3 and DTS and no-one encodes for that.

the correct name for the chip with Dolby and DTS should be S802-H
                remember it.

Yea I was just looking at that on two manufactures sites.

The only issue is that they cannot get Dolby and DTS to agree so this chip may never see the light of day.....

There's no heatsink? Is it true?

Yep. No many ARM CPU's need heat sinks. Remember ARM CPU architecture is bases on a low wattage design so less heat is generated. These CPU's aren't like desktop CPU's that use CIS code ARM uses the RIS code which is WAY more efficient.

Also note that the chips may be capable of clocking to 2G but as we have seen on the rockchip side the manufactures keep the clock speed lower for heat reduction.

I personally ran my MK1 as the full 1.6G for 15 min and it got warm but not enough to cause issues. a small fan kept it well below it's limit.

Now can you add one? Sure, kill your warranty but it'll run cooler and last longer but we're talking 10-15 years of extra use and well are you really going to own this and be using it after 5 years.... nope

If you look closley you will see two holes in the PCB near the 802 chip for the heatsink mounting.

these are not even proper companies, how could they get licensed??
as the market evolves, these brands will eventually disappear.
