Q7 - root method, working rom, xbmc

    Hello,
Looking for more information regarding the Q7 Android TV box. Geekbuying sells it. There was a couple threads from January for it, but there's no confirmation that the newest firmware solves the issues.

    Looking for:

    1) working root method
    2) working ROM (it has a different wireless chip, so the roms out there for 3188 don't work)
    3) How to get smooth XBMC playback

    Thanks!

Thanks. There's a few of us on the slickdeals forum who just brought the Q7. We'd really appreciate it!

I'm using the lastest stock ROM for the Q7 and it seems to be working fine with "Beyond XBMC", although I still can't get my Rii bluetooth to work. I have this rooted.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the advantage to using a custom ROM over a stock ROM? What new functions/features do I get?

What's "Rii bluetooth"? Is that some separate bluetooth adapter, some bluetooht device? Or are you refering to the built-in bluetooth?

I'd be interested in a more detailed review of the stock rom. How did you root it? Which tutorial did you use?

Rii is the make of the keyboard and connecting using the built-in bluetooth.

Have you tried paring any other bluetooth device to the Q7? Like a bluetooth headset? Does the bluetooth not work with that particular keyboard, or does it just not work in general?

Tried with a phone and got the same.

Don't have any other bluetooth devices unfortunately.

Do you have bluetooth devices working with the Q7?

I don't have it yet, but it's coming. I'm hoping for a rom that works well.

The ROM in the post below is what I am currently using with "Beyond XBMC". I uninstalled the XBMC that came with the ROM.

                          Any luck with this?

                          I've confirmed I have the RK3188-T chip.

Will this new ROM allow me to try overclocking the Q7?
