OK the MK908II is next on my list! I know many have been wanting an update.

However I am sorry to say that the hardware on my MK908ii SUCKS!
The NAND chip is a FORESEE piece of crap and slow as hell.
My CPU will not over clock above 1608 or it crashes. But I still give those lucky enough to have a stable CPU OC kernels.

This was built from the latest ROM from Beelink update_MK908II_104j2104_0317.img.

Features and release notes for my 1.6 ROM:

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2
The stock Tronsmart ROM was rooted but NOT CORRECTLY! And was using an old version!

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.
You should not have to update anything as of this date. Nice and clean

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a MK908ii! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a 908.
WARNING if you do this, you need to be using the 1080 kernel or your screen will be oversized!

6) I removed the pre-install crap and Flumpster's Beyond XBMC.
Tronsmart ripped off Flumpster's work without asking for permission from him!
If you want the latest Beyond XBMC then just download it from FreakTab.
Oh and Thank Freaktab developer Flumpster for making it!

7) VSYNC patched kernels! Yep the stock kernel in this ROM has micro frame skipping.
Sometimes I just get Tronsmart! They fix it in some of their devices but not in others.
Anyway, micro frame skipping is patched in all the supplied kernels in the ROM.

8) Kernel choices:
Yes I give you TRUE 1080P kernel! I patched the stock kernel myself!
Kernels:
kernel720.img
kernel1080.img
There are also matching boot.img's.
The boot1080.img will give you large icons (like 720P) with a 1080P kernel.
Note: DO NOT use boot1080.img with a 720 kernel or your screen will be all jacked up on boot!

9) I also provide some overclocked kernels! See below.

10) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

11) My usual patches and updates for performance.

Hi Bob,

thanks for the new ROM.

Installation was smooth but nothing loads on the main Google Play page.

Edit: I rebooted and was able to open Google Play.

Plex works fine and Im going to test Netflix later. Thanks again.

FYI I made a math mistake in the 4gb and 6gb parameter files. If you use them it wont boot.

WiFi borked ?

Low Level formatted and installed on Tronsmart M908ii R3188T which had Finless 1.5 previously installed.

Tried a couple of the 1080P kernels 1080P and and an OC 1080P.

Could not get WiFi to work. Turns on but turn off after a couple on minutes with no access points ever appearing (usually will see my 2 routers and a few of my neighbors).

Anyone else having the same problem or a resolution?

P.S. Tried reflashing Finless 1.5 and having the same problem with WiFi.was working fine before I flashed 1.6. Did 1.6 update any firmware (i.e. radio/WiFi) ?

ROM V1.6 Blinking Screen After Flashing

Hey, friends

Full disclosure: Am very new to this device type (mini pc's in general and flashing)

I have just flashed my Tronsmart MK908II to this ROM from original stock (didn't bother with mk908ii till now). It looks and functions really nicely...but with a hitch

The hitch: When I have rebooted and waited a good 5 mins for the screen to settle in (first time boot), the screen keeps on blinking..going dark then coming back again.

This happens slowly at first, but the more activity going on (i.e. mouse clicks and apps and so on), the more the frequency of this signal loss keeps getting bigger and bigger, to the point of utter annoyance and making it impossible to use it and enjoy it.

Is anyone experiencing this problem?? I hope I am not the only one .

Chosen options:

-kernel1080
-boot1080
-parameter4gb (with the new fix)
-misc, RK3188Loader(L)_V1.20, recovery for the other fields (I know choosing these in the flash tool isn't mentioned in Bob's instructions, but I don't think this could be causing the screen signal loss problem)

Any thoughts would be helpful (I don't even know how to get back the stock rom yet..I am searching)

you need to go into your device settings and change the screen resolution to match what you flashed.
(screen settings, 720 or 1080)

I have matched the two (i.e. flashed 1080 kernel w/1080boot and set 1080p/60 in the settings) with still same result.

Other people got it to work by setting 720p/60 in settings even though they flashed to 1080p ( they were having this problem w/ the 1.5 version). Can't tell what the prob;lem is...flashed it three times...same result. Followed intstructions to teeth too.

Did you try a different power supply? Faulty power supplies will do crazy things to your device.

VPN not working

I've had my MK908ii for less than a week and it's been a massive learning curve from not knowing that these boxes even exist 2 weeks ago, to buying one and finding out they don't work properly out of the box and you have to do days of research and faffing about to get it working properly!

I tried numerous combinations of XBMC with Finless 1.5a ROM and on all of them the video would stop and the top would of the picture would turn into green squares when streaming online sources 10 - 20 mins into watching it, but the audio would continue.

I saw this one yesterday (Finless 1.6) flashed it, and I have finally watched 2 films with no problems, and the video is smooth with the 1080p kernel and boot. The only problem I am having is I've tried 3 different VPN apps in the Play store and when they initialise all of them crash and cause the stick to reboot. Is there any fix for this as I can't use Hulu, Primewire, and others as Virgin media block nearly everything that is good about the internet!

I originally installed the 720 image and had the screen blinking. The fix was to go into the screen settings and checked the 1280x720. Then all worked fine.

I flashed the 1080 image today and the screen does blink.
To get this going, Go to settings>screen>HDMI Mode>check-1280x720p-60.

The 1920x1080p settings does not work for either image....

I know. This setting gets it to stop the blinking/flashing. It isn't something utterly required, but I intended to hook this thing up to a 55'' TV as a mediocre game/theatre system soo the 1080 res. would've helped for 'completion' purposes. oh well...

It works fine for me. It could be because your box has a rockchip with a "T" on the end. I'm just guessing, but after hours trawling though these pages it seems the ones with the t on the end are inferior chips. I've had none of the problems mentioned above apart from vpn doesn't work.
