Doesn't anyone have an answer about which RK3188 TV stick/box under 80$ is very stable and still in market? T428 is no longer in market.

    Regards.

It's called "Amazon fire TV" and its on their front page.

Which one of these devices would you pick?

              1. T-R42 http://www.geekbuying.com/item/T-R42...ck-317424.html

              5. Tronsmart Vega Elite S89 http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Trons...ck-324693.html

And is there any difference between MINIX X7 mini and classic version of X7 in terms of quality and stability?

The first... has the RK3188-T chip... toss that one out right off. The rest aren't so easy of a choice but they are at least not cheap or low quality devices.

The Ogoos UT2 has gotten good reviews from the users that have gotten it. It's new and as such there aren't a lot of custom ROM's available as of yet...

Rikomagic usually makes good quality stuff... read up on this one and check out what others that own them are saying... check out how many custom ROM's are available etc.

Minix's x7 mini and x7 are good quality units. The x7 has an external antenna and 16Gb of storage vs the mni with 8Gb. I love my x7 and I also see good reviews from the users of the x7 mini... I think the external antenna is worth the extra money and having a little more onboard storage is also nice although I use an external hard drive for most of my media... so the extra 8Gb in my situation doesn't do a lot.

The Tronsmart is a new AMLogic quad core... great reviews so far but they are also brand new like the Ogoos so currently there are few custom ROM's at this point... but like the Ogoos that will likely change also.

I'll also mention that Minix will release two new devices also using the AMLogic quad core CPU's in about May... the x8 and x8s

Of the RK3188 devices ( ie Minix, Ogoos and Rikomagic )... I'd go with either of the Minix ones and get the most you can... if it's just the x7 mini fine... the x7 is just a bit better. Why?... because Minix stands behind and updates their product lines longer than anyone else I've see... they still release updates for the x5 and x5 mini dual core units.

The AMLogic devices ( Tronsmart and later Minix )... are the ones that would make me wait to see how things work out with those devices... I think they will likely blow away the RK3188 devices if for no other reason than AMLogic itself provides better support and are more open about their products than RK has ever provided. My only reservation about them is that they are so new we don't know their drawbacks yet... or which ones will end up with more custom ROM's either.

Thank you for your answer, I really appreciate it.
Well all I can say is that all of this is just a bit sad.
I said to my self, okay, if it means that I have to pay money to have something good, I will pay the money and get my self minix neo x7, then I went to geekbuying.com and read that one guy said this: "-the firmware that it comes with i found to be horrbile. it will keep resetting." Yeah all of this makes me sick. I have 60$ device that does the same thing. Why would I pay this time 140$ just to get the same thing again? Makes no sense. He says that with Finless 1.6 things get a bit better, but I doubt that.
And if the MINIX neo X7 is king of the hill of RK3188 devices (and it keeps rebooting) why would any of the other RK3188 devices be ANY better? I want something that will never restart or any app will crash. Seems like Rockchip is just bad. So I will DEFINITELY NOT get any of RK devices.

Someone said before that I should look into Amazon Fire TV, but there are few problems with that, Amazon Fire TV is okay if you are ready to pay for every movie or show that you will watch.. it would be good device if someone could reprogram that device, take that hardware and put regular android system on it. Also it is mentioned in the review on youtube that people are building games specifically for that device.. and that also sucks.

All that is left is Tronsmart Vega S89, maybe this device is even okay, but I allready have Tronsmart MK908ii wich sucks, so I am thinking same company = same bad device just different packing.

Also, someone mentioned that I should get a mini intel PC, well that has two bad sides, first one is the price ( on **** minimun 150$ ).. the other one is that needs to have some sort of windows or linux on it, and people like my 65 years old dad that does not know how to use anything except his Samsung galaxy S3 would find working on such UI very very hard.. So in any case I would go with android, maybe even some very simple launcher too.

Bottom line, I don't know what to do.

Well, I do have Mediatek MTK6589 phone, and with this chip, my phone never restarted and none of the apps ever crashed.. is there any TV BOX with Mediatek chip inside?

                  Regards.

Re: Best (most stable) RK3188 device?

The minix Neo X7 is the most stable device, good quality build, good official and developers support, and better stock firmware I found for now in rk3188. There is a lot of development around this device, and a lot of really good custom roms for it.

The best stock firmware for it is 008 in my opinion, but I prefer customs firmwares on it ( I use quickshot v2), I have it downloading torrents for a few days without any freeze or reboot, and I use it like a media center using 1080p, ac3 or DTS 5.1 over spdif, and I really enjoy with it.

They will release the X8 soon, this device will have an amlogic quad processor, and I really think it will be the reference device in the next future.

I only can tell you my experience with rk3188 devices, there are some user that complain some problems, but it will happen with all devices. If you have a mtk phone, you know that a lot of people complains about problems with GPS, freezes and other problems, but really all mtk phone users I know are really happy with them.

                      I'm with leolas,

You can't go by just a few bad reports on any device... some people will complain about anything. I also prefer the custom ROM's on mine as well... in fact, that is the case in every device I've had whether it was a Mini-PC or a Smartphone

What I don't like much about Tronsmart is that they don't support their devices for very long... they may release one or two ROM updates and then drop support. Other than that, most of the people that have them seem to be happy and since I've not owned one myself ( for the reason I mentioned not caring for TS )... I really can't say much else of value that is based on experience.

You have to choose by how you think things will work ... but I still stand by what I wrote and right now... if I had to buy another device it would be a Minix.... but if I could wait, I'd see how things work out with the new devices just now coming out...

PS... I only mentioned the FireTV to be as complete as I could... if no dev makes a custom ROM for it... I wouldn't go in that direction much for the same reasons you listed... I want a device that is open architecture ... so a closed one which I can't setup the way I want it setup, is not something I'd ever buy.

Thank you for your answers. Okay then guys, Minix Neo X7 it is. It's not like I have a lot of options here.. anyway.. Should I wait to see how will these AMLogic devices turn out or should I just go ahead and get my self the X7 right away?

                        What would you guys do?

And, how much power can X7 provide on USB ports? Guessing not good enough to power the 2TB hard drive?

                        Thanx again,
                        Regards.

Probably no need to repeat my own recommendations...

But I am running my 2Tb drive from my x7 without using a powered USB hub BUT it will depend on the amount of power the one you select in the end. The x7 has a great power supply as long as the drive you select isn't power hungry you should be ok..
