I thought I wanted the Neo X8S but the MINIX Intel Bay Trail Mini PC has me intrigued. Any thoughts?

I don't think minix will be available till after June after talking to their clue less staff at hong kong trade show

I think the hype for order end of may is just pre order to pay for their jigs and setup costs in advance and the release will be mid june or late june so to speak

Btw Eric, Have you seen there is new fw for beelink m8? They have fixes for the XBMC audio/video sync in there (apparently)

Geekbuying we are also still waiting for review on the m8 square as you mentioned 1 week ago

the H version is just dolby licensing issue and can be unlocked on normal s802 if wanted too or person with dobly license can obtain this

and I would be suprised if the minix is out before June.

I don't understand what you mean? Do you think the HW-Decoding is only locked at the s802 and can be unlocked with a software-patch? I don't think so.

false information sorry maybe for some people without common sense or technical background (not refering to stupid either).

I mean people can believe what they want I don't sell units but if you are going to post guides like that have your information correct. that guide really should be pulled down as its misleading to some extent

Personally The chipset are the same s802 , s802-h it can be unlocked by engineer if needed amlogic would not produce 2 different chipset rigs due to the $$$.

The H version can be bought with anyone that has dolby licence so the minix would be m8 or beelink or s89 etx rebadge and due to them having a dolby licence they would be able to see that under the minix brand name with different casing so to speak

There are some fair point being made there. I would not worry too much about the thermal stuff. The both have the same heatsink etc. That thermal pad (or rubber?) down to the base plate is not really doing anything except maybe give it a bit of shock resistance - which I think is realy the idea here - not for cooling! The CPU runs cool enough for most environments - except middle east/sahara maybe).

One thing that is a bummer with the m8 mbox is that they omitted the ESD protection. This will likely cause many users to loose USB ports in time - or maybe not. Only time will tell if this was bad or not...
