Netflix horrible quality on s89

    Netflix horrible quality on s89

    What's the deal that on the fire TV the Netflix app plays full HD and DD5.1. Now Xbmc does it fine so why does the Netflix app on a brand new box like this run so poorly?

      Both. I have no issue with wifi HD Netflix on my Apple TV 2 or the fire TV. It gets better the longer you let it play but never HD. Nor does the app display the HD symbol like it does on thw fire and atv2

        Currently, the regular android app doesn't show bitrate information nor show HD symbol. I guess Netflix app limits the bit rate to 3000kbps or lower than that resulting in quality up to 720p only.

          I wonder how amazon got around that. Must have made a custom version for their boxes. Mine is very blocky and choppy for first couple minutes on tronsmart then does ok. No dd pass though in Netflix.

            Yes, Netflix has a custom apk for Fire TV. As per Netflix site, HD on android is available only for Nexus 7.

            May be changing the build.prop to spoof Vega s89 as Nexus 7 will result in Full HD on Vega s89?

              If you are not looking for profile support then you can install one of the apks from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2305091 to get Netflix HD.

                There's also another thread on the same forum somewhere I remember seeing from someone that had extracted all the Fire TV apps....will try and dig it out.

                  Thanks for the link. Looks like you can't directly install the APKs from Fire TV on other Android devices.

                  Those who are ready to try can spoof Vega S89 as Nexus 7 and see if they can get HD.

                    Are the download links from that still active? Last I checked they were not, so I uploaded them to my drive and posted a link. I have taken it down since then, but if people are still looking for the apks and someone can host them and give credit, I will be happy to share. The 16x version is stellar on my MK808B (when my MK808B is working).

                          If they got pulled from XDA then that might be the reason!

                            They were working just a few weeks ago. I think they did take them down not for copyright but they were no longer supporting the software and they were hoping someone else would pick it up

                              Id be interested in the 16X version for testing. The links seem to be down. Like i said they were up just a few weeks back. Maybe they expired thats my thinking
