I'm not sure if anyone determined whether or not there is any differences between 408j2404 and v409j2404 aside from 409 having XBMC preinstalled.

Seems like Beelink redesigned their website and no longer has the changelog info in English http://www.bee-link.com/en/article.php?id=55

I've really been meaning to flash this ROM and then follow through with comparing performance before and after flashing Shomari's DDR OC kernel or your 1080p kernel... The only thing holding me back is that I have Windows 8.1. I tried following the instructions to make RKBatchTool work in Win 8.1 --- the device is recognized, but flashing fails. Soon as I get access to a PC running Win 7, I'll flash 490j and see if passthrough works.

Ok, I flashed v409j and did a few tests. First I had the mk808b connected to my PC's usb drive with my old 26 inch 1080i TV with the screen output set to 720p and got 11185 on Antutu, 42.8 average fps in Citadel. I noticed that Antutu says that the CPU is running at 1600MHz. Isn't the stock clock 1.2GHz? Weren't people saying that even overclocking the CPU to 1.4GHz could be unstable? Check the screenshots... I didn't change any settings, just flashed the ROM via RKBatchtool. After using it for a little while and then powering down, it did feel pretty hot, to be honest.

Later I tried it being powered by a newer 32 inch 1080p tv's built-in usb port. I also changed the output to 1080p. Antutu says that the rom is only displaying 720p, so it's not true 1080p --- just upscaled, I'm guessing. The 720p/1080p output and different power source made no difference in epic citadel --- one test got 42.7 average FPS, the other got 42.5 (lost track of which one was which...). Antutu was scoring a bit higher (11413 and 11591), though I'm not sure why.

About passthrough: the 5.1 passthrough option is available in settings on v409j. First, I tried it out in the XBMC included with the ROM (Beyond XBMC). There are a bunch of different settings, and they were pretty confusing. I used this ac3 test file http://www.tfm.ro/win32-projects/test-avi-ac3/ and had some mixed results... It would work, but the "CENTER" sound would be missing. I think I just had it set up with the wrong settings... Then I tried MX Player using the DTS arm7 neon codec from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...35&postcount=2 and it worked perfect --- except the subwoofer part. It might be because I changed the speaker on DTS mode Finally I tried latest XBMC nightly (xbmc-20140419-51d4cbd-Gotham-armeabi-v7a.apk) and this one had a much less confusing audio options page. I attached a pic of it. You can see that the output device is locked at one setting. It worked fine, but again, I think it was missing the subwoofer sound. Also, tried a 1080p video file on the nightly and it was really, really poor at playback.

I'm going to see if I can find a video file for testing DTS so that I can retry beyond xbmc/xbmc nightly/mx player... and I'll try the AC3 file with DTS mode turned off. Once I get some more tests done with the stock ROM, I'll try the 1080p/DDR OC kernels as I mentioned before and I'll upload the antutu/citadel results.

It feels really dirty using the stock ROM... All those garbage apps, plus the fact that the CPU is OC'd makes me a little weary.

            Ok. Thank you.

Prahjister, I forgot to ask... Were you wondering about those two versions specifically due to them having the DVFS or whatever? Seem to remember it being mentioned that it was taken out of the newest ROMs, but I could be mistaken.

I played around with passthrough some more today, and I still can't get the subwoofer to work anymore. My setup is similar to this:

If you want DD/DTS passthrough with your current setup (audio: X7 => TV => Receiver), in the Android sound setting select the HDMI Passthrough option and then in XBMC 'Optical/Coax'.

Analog setting in XBMC disables multi-channel passthrough and uses internal decoders to downmix to stereo.
I cycled through HDMI/Optical/Analog and Analog is the only one that seems to work. I think HDMI and Optical would always result in a loud clicking sound. It's weird, because I know for a fact that the subwoofer worked once last night, but I haven't been able to get it working in beyond xbmc/gotham nightly/mx player since.

Hey man, just a follow-up. I have a 5.1 speaker system, but I was testing the 5.1 passthrough using a soundbar. As I said in my other post, I am thoroughly convinced that I was hearing the bass sound during the LFE (subwoofer) part of the test last night. However, I am now thinking that this soundbar does not have any built-in subwoofer at all.

I have been stressing out about this all day, thinking I broke it by playing the static sound over it when messing with the settings, but now I am reading the specs for this sound bar and it says it only has two channels along with an output jack for subwoofer.

I'm still a bit worried about testing with my actual 5.1 speaker setup --- if I do, I'll probably stick to using MX Player.

Yep, I see what you mean. Well, as I mentioned, it seems that the site was redesigned---that's probably when it went missing. Click the screenshot posted by spicysaturdayboy --- you should be able to type the URL of 409j ROM into your browser, as it should still be on baidu. Also be sure to use google chrome with auto-translate, because it's tough navigating baidu if you can't read the Chinese. Clicking the wrong thing will end up with you installing their download manager which you probably don't want.

Sadly, that probably won't work. Seems that with most file hosts, clicking the download button is like generating a ticket that only works for the IP that requested it, within a certain time window, and/or valid for only a specific number of downloads. That's also probably the same reason the URL is so long. I think they do this to get more traffic to their site so that they can try to get people to buy the premium subscriptions.

If I'm wrong, it didn't work for me at least
