Why can't I power on the S82 and s89 box with the controller?
One problem I noticed was regarding powering off the system with the remote. If the box is turned off with the remote it sleeps and if left off overnight, it just won't turn on with the remote. The only way to turn it on is by pressing the box power button for 10 seconds and then press it once again to turn it on.

I also niticed that with the xbmc fanart slideshow screensaver active it hangs after trying to wake it. Luckily its only xbmc as you can go back to android home screen with remote home button. When going back to xbmc there is only a green screen. Second time around going back to xbmc it restarts and is fine. (xbmc 04/19 nightly)

Hey Lokie
I forgot to mention that when I had Finless 1.2 rom it did the same thing. If I'm watching xbmc and I press the controller power button before going to bed, in the morning if I try to power it on with the remote, it doesn't turn on... It's almost as if it gets stuck in sleep mode. My only solution is to then go to the box and hold the power button for 10 seconds, that powers off the box... then I have to press the power button one time on the actual box because trying to power on the box with the controller after powering it off by pressing the button 10 seconds doesn't work.
I have tested several boxes, and all have this problem.
Hope you can help.

I had similar problem way back on my galaxy S2. It turned out that if the min CPU frequency were to low it ended up to behave this way. The only way to really figure out whats going on is to get a logcat with ADB I guess.

It's a shame that the power button on the controller is useless. I guess now I could finally get up of the couch and lose some weight waking to the box to turn it on or off.
Its a Great Box but unfortunately the wheels are square.

I believe I have found a temporary fix to address this issue until a firmware update fixes it
I installed The free DS Battery Saver with the profile set to BALANCE and although I can't shutdown the box by pressing the power button on the remote, I can press it before going to bed and in the morning I can press the power button on the remote and wake up the box to the last state it was on!
Before I installed this app, if I pressed the button on the remote before going to bed, in the morning the only way I could turn it on would be to press the power button on the box for 10 seconds or unplug the cable.
What the balance profile does is wake up the box every hour for one min.

You could always just turn off the 'screen off' in the settings. It means the output to the TV would always be on but the only thing the screen off does is turn the output to the box off. The box is always on and powered up no matter what.

OK, I found it on my phone. You need to go into "about tablet" then press on "build number" 7 times. You should see a notification saying "developer options unlocked"
Come out of the settings then reboot. Go back to the settings and there should now be a 'developer options " setting. Go in there and there is an option for "screen will never sleep whilst charging" The screen will stay on all the time and never turn off now.

I think that just might work! I cant test it until I go to bed tonight since I intend on using the box all day. I always had that problem when the box was turned off by the remote for a long period of time, thats why in the mornings I always noticed that problem.
I can't understand why they choose to put the box in a sleep state by pressing the controller power button instead of shutdown

This reminds me of the the early Android days in 2008 with the htc magic kernel development @ xda. Same nightmare all over again lol. This is just the start guys... But I'm still pleased with my purchase so far I must admit. Just wish i had the time to tinker with it...
