try pressing the back arrow as your OK select button. For some reason that works for me in the recovery menu.

I did use the toothpick method. Says " installation firmware failed " can not install older firmware or something like that.

are you using an sd card with only the firmware files on it? I think I got that message when trying to use a usb stick with update and toothpick method but works fine with sd card.
