disable auto detect and manually set your 720p tv to 1080i or 1080p in the android display settings. Surprisingly the 1080p selection works on my 720p tv and this resolves the xbmc issue.

This worked good however now I am getting 3 pop up errors in android :
1. Unfortunely, IPRemoteControl has stopped
2. Gmail has stopped
3. Android Keyboard AOSP has stopped

Gmail will not open. Onscreen keyboard still appears to work fine. Physical keyboard works. Remote Works.

people say 720p is better for fast motion video but i cant notice it so I always use 1080i since its sharper. I use the 1080p android display selection on my 720p tv cause it works but if it didnt Id use 1080i. I'm curious to know whether or not the 1080P selection works for everyone with a 720P tv or if its hit or miss depending on your tv. My tv is set to 1080i but would it still work on 1080 in android settings if my tv was set to 720p? Not sure cause i lost my remote and the menu on tv doesnt show that option this is just an extra tv though.. i have a nice 125in projector hooked up to my M8

How about XBMC, any problem with movie playback?

P.s M8 Picture quality Far superior Compare to M6 Boxes (MXBOX/MX2/GBOX) , even 720p movies Looks amazing!

Only played a 1080 movie for a few minutes but it seemed fine. Was really just testing to ensure proper aspect ratio.

You know I suggested that in the tronsmart forum. Yet it seems people don't get this setting.

However once you change it I noticed on my ROM that once you turn off CEC and set for 1280x720 sometimes the desktop will be screwed up. HOWEVER the important part is after a reboot it does boot into 2180x720 and the desktop is correct.

Users need to know this in settings.

1) Go to advanced and turn off CEC
2) The line below this turn off CEC button states what your set to. It does NOT look clickable like you can change it. BUT... if you click on it you can change your settings for the HDMI output. THIS IS NOW RETAINED ON EVERY BOOT UP!


Come on folks.... try this before asking for custom kernels.

Thanks rlaursen, makes me wonder what the problem is when I get so many weird responses, posted issue, etc etc... When I expect they know about this setting and I don't think it is clear they do!

And for 1080i, yes that works. But on a > 42inch the picture quality is very bad and not what we were used to see, so for us it's not an option.

Now on a 10 rom with Oman XBMC. The rom has it's problems, but it's acceptable for now.

The fw s82_rom_port_em8 with 33 kernel does 720p in xbmc well, but second boot there is the black screen.

on my tv its hard to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Its the same resolution so it should look the same and this is on a 125in screen. The difference people say is that P is better than i for fast motion but to me its not noticeable

lol i hate the colorful launcher i use apex launcer to customize it. Heres a pic of what it looks like though the size can go all the way up to 300inches but that depends how far back you can place the projector.
