Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 3.0 KitKat

CAUTION: This IS a KitKat ROM...so do your homework on flashing KitKat ROM's before you get started.

This ROM is based on official Pipo firmware that I ported from the M9 Pro dated 5/4/14 (still from beta testers, not from the Pipo site). Thanks to all of you users who saw this before I did. I've jumped ahead a couple of version numbers, because I actually had a couple of unreleased versions.

One thing I have noticed is that QuickOffice now works and saves files to your SD card. We will have to wait and see what other fixes are in store.

This ROM has all of the usual RileyROM features:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d support with Busybox commands
    English Default
    Google Play Store fixes
    Updated Google Apps
2, 4, 6, 8 or 12gb user app space by selecting the desired parameter file
Auto Install feature added for installing apk files on first boot from external SD
TWRP recovery installed on first boot by Abdul_Pt
    Reboot app by Petrus
    New boot animation by me
Latest revision of the First Time User's Guide
    Flash Tool by Finless
All made with a variation of 900SuperSport's Freaktab Kitchen

Edit: This is now v3.0.1 with fixes to Exchange Server email.

    Just a note about QuickOffice.

The factory version that comes on this ROM works. If you allow Play Store to update it....it will not work anymore. Don't allow automatic updates on QuickOffice.

You can go into apps and uninstall the update and it will work again....if it does update on you. Another example that newer isn't necessarily better.

Please give us some feedback once you flashed, I'm very curious. Also, to know whats new and if it pays off to update from 2.7. would be great.

                thanks

Yes...this is KK based on the firmware for the M9 Pro. Since I use my M7 Pro to test my M9 Pro ROMs, I decided to publish it for the M7 Pro. Anna at Pipo replied last week that there were no plans for an M7 Pro Update.

Unfortunately, Pipo doesn't give release notes.

BTW...I didn't mention that I'm using the kernel from the 2.8 ROM in this one.

Yes, we have been talking about that over on the M9 Pro thread. I'm going to take a look at this and will likely make a ROM from it, too. I've read that this one isn't as stable as the one I made THIS ROM from. We shall see.

I'm thinking logically here...I could stand corrected, but it appears that the main difference between the two M9 Pro ROM's I'm working with are the kernel versions.

Since I'm not even using the M9 Pro kernels in the M7 Pro ROM's, I'm not sure there's any REAL difference. I'm adding the kernel from my 2.8 ROM in both ROM's.

Just in case you want to try, I'm providing an alternative ROM...v3.1. I will post a link as soon as I get it uploaded.

There's a thread for that in the main Pipo forum. I will let the kernel guys take care of that. They are much better at it than I am.
