So, then it is completely the same... I mean, if everything works fluid I don't care if it's hardware or software decoding. Great, I'm taking this device... Thx

You're buying based on the overall quality and support, not just a chipset model differential.

Support is obviously the same as for any rounded amlogic quad device. In other words - the best it can be!

              Dolby Digital encodeing

Apologies for digging up an old thread . I am investigating the Digital out put of the S82B , Currently I have been unsucessfull of recieving any signal at all from the device .

              I have the 111K4 2.1 Finless ROM

My DTS/Dolby amp is hooked up but is not recieiving anything at all , I have tried Dolby encoded media in MXplayer and PCM encoded media through XBMC

                Hi..9090
                Have you tried..changing android settings,
                Desktop-mbox settings-advanced
                -disable audio auto-detection
                Then change: digital audio output
                --
                In kodi/xbmc/spmc set passthrough on
                System-settings-system-audio output
                -enable ''settings level' to advanced
                Then change/enable passthrough dolby/dts

                Goodluck

                  Thanks Mitch

Yes all is now working , just watched Tron with vitual surround on xbmc , sound was crisp . However the option to change the audio option to Dolby/spdif passthrough was originally locked (fresh ROM flash) this option could only be changed after the MX player was installed. My theory is that MX player contains codecs which fire up the opitical port ...

                  Happy new year
