UPDATED - NEW - TEST ROM and kinda cool!

Nice listing of questions
You have to note than my quick review is based on Minix ROM ported on S89 by Bob, not on the Minix ROM with a X8 device. Maybe, some differences, who knows?

Like i said, Minix ROM seems very close than Tronsmart last one.
So, a lot of anwsers are already known.... a few here:
6. Brightness not adjustable.
7. Portrait bug is present (Antutu for example)
10. 1080P50/60 - not 1080P24Hz ... Videos are played smooth like butter with MX, BS, XBMC (Check 1080 movies on LCD 50/60Hz compatible)
22. Flash is not present. Have to install hack flash + Dolphin.

I noticed a few things

1) Supplied Ir Remote not working for me (maybe I missed something)
2) This Rom with finless 1.6 kernel = 85 Mbps download via ethernet (A new record for this box) however
3) This Rom with Minix kernel = 40 Mbps download via ethernet (Very average for this box and similar to tronsmart stock, which is kinda weird because Bob is not tinkering with the Kernel to increase data throughput, so a change in Kernel should have made no difference.
4) In my limited testing it appears to handle simultaneous use of bluetooth and Wifi much better, but more testing required
5) Struggles to stream video in iplayer, but audio works
6) The power off command ACTUALLY WORKS


Not a bad rom all in all and has some nice tweaks like optional Google search bar on the home screen, however not massively different from stock tronsmart

Bob, any chance of getting the kernel from finless 1.6 as a flashable zip ?

Tested it too so far...nothing new, except the menu colour.
Tronsmart standard remote doesnt work, I was able to setup my logitech harmony with the code of minix7and it works. No news here either, no play pause or skip buttons in standard mode. My trust wireless keyboard works similar to the tronsmart, except the ctrl+alt+del combo... if pressed, the tronsmart rom reboots, minix8 rom freezes. The power toggle of the minix remote lets the device go to sleep, but isnt able to wake it up. That has to be done with the tronsmart remote. Seems logic to me due to the hardware/software combo.

Miracast only mirrors sound from my note3, but the screen stays black. Its the same with the tronsmart rom. By the way...the navigating through the minix firmware feels a little little tiny bit smoother, but that could also be imagination.

I will now go back to tsmrom

You would need a custom rom on your note 3 for Miracast to work, this box does not support HDCP so my LG tab works fine with it but my galaxy S4 brings up a note on screen stating "NO HDCP means a NO GO ON VIDEO"

This is because kernel is in boot.img and thus init.rc is also! I tweak the ethernet and wifi buffers in init.rc on my custom ROMs. For this Minix PORT I wanted everything stock except it is rooted. So you are getting the stock buffers!

This is NOT the kernel! It's because my ROM tweaks are not in it!

I plan to make a custom ROM from the best of the best MIX from all ROMs next. I bet this will solve all this

Again as I posted a minute ago, give me time to tune everything and make a "morph" BEST of the BEST ROM

Oh and you M8 square box guys... your screwed! See my post in that forum as to why... Plenty pissed off right now with that POS box!

OK. All is working .. ROM + Kernel (with recovery ext)
Test now, and report later.

Update:
Globally same as Tronsmart ROM. No nfs/cifs support. Same strange kernel (24Hz-1.99Mhz - Hotplug - can't manual modify) without Antutu cheat (lol).

Differences:
- Status bar no always visible
- Mouse cursor (Minix default one)
- Volume buton +/- in navigation bar
- Stop/reboot button (and app) in navigation bar
- Xbmc minix edition (not really test it... seems like Xbmc from Oman)
- Differents screens for screensaver...
- Antutu 22K (full screen landscape forced)

Nothing to see... Minix first rom is just the same than Beelink one.
Back to Finless 1.6 now

I really like this Rom, it is my new daily driver, some of you may remember that this is running my pioneer app radio in the car, I have had a problem for a while with the bluetooth connection in use hosing the wifi hotspot between my phone and the S82, all that appears to be gone with this rom, so im sticking with it.


Bob, any chance of getting the boot.img from 1.6 as a zip as I don't really want to reinstall this whole ROM (and erase all my stuff) just to get the better init.rc and other performance tweaks back !

1.6 boot wont work on this ROM if you want the Minix kernel! 1.6 will flash the Tronsmart kernel.
If you want that just use the stock CPU fix as this flashes the 1.6 boot.img

I have the H but seams to complicated tho install and plus I will loose all my apps but I appreciate that Bob is trying the best to make a smooth Rom thx Bob I'm on 1.6 and I'm happy

Thanks bob, will do. however I have now encountered another problem that might have me going back to 1.6. A prorogram I use is refusing to install, it's not giving a reason it just say "not installled"

Gave the ROM a try. For me the Tronsmart Finless 1.5 is far superior. The MINIX ROM is lagging, freezing and generally slow.
