    Finless 1.7 ROM ideas

OK guys so here is my dilemma....

I have done a very cool thing for my 1.7 ROM. Well at least I think you all will like it.

I found that the partitioning of NAND memory on the stock ROM wastes almost 1 GB of NAND (800megs to be right).
For instance, NAND was partitioned for system as 1.1GB when system only uses 550MB. Also logo, boot, and recovery were 3 times the size needed!!!!

I have found a way to reclaim all that by repartitioning NAND giving you 800meg more of internal NAND for APPs etc.

However, to do it the ROM must be a IMG that you flash with the AML flash tool! I have tried to see if I can do it from SDcard ZIP update but it's not possible.

Do you think getting 800MB more is worth it?
Or should I leave it alone and just make a SDcard ZIP update?

I cannot do both so don't ask! If I have 2 ROMs it will burn too much FreakTab bandwidth offering 2 ROMs from here on out!

So what do you all prefer?

I don't have so many apps that im running short of space, but then I have the 16Gb model so maybe I will leave it to people with 8GB models to decide

I could not get the flash tool to work on my computer, so I am prejudiced, and vote for the zip.

                1.7 ROM's Reclaimed NAND Memory

Bob, the ease of updating the ROM with the system's app isn't worth giving up for a measly 800 megs. I have a 64GB SD card for storage as do most folks. And seriously, just how many apps does one generally install on their systems? To my mind the remaining memory after the ROM and necessary utilities are installed is more than adequate. skb

Bob, I think that what you have found is very cool, and that being able to save 800MB is a great achievement. However, at the moment I don't have a need for the space. Accordingly, I vote for the zip method.

                            Zip it.

It is not possible to get it flashed by USB if You are running something like Windows 8 and up (USB driver installation issue).
If You do so the potential user base of Your ROM will be narrow.

alright, I'm tired of my email being blown up. I think its official the consensus votes for a zip. Any against that speak up now. I'm ready for some 1.7
