I have also been trying to make a stock rom for backup purposes and
haven't been able to,could anyone explain why or what i'm doing wrong.
i have adb-sdk installed and some expirience using it.

OK guys, I think the nextbook 7 and all the models, serial numbers, etc is just out of control keeping track of what works on what and all the serial numbers / models

So I ask that people try to help others and reporting what serial number you have and what ROMs work.

I think we need a run down of this mess if you ask me?

So please report what you have, model like S, P, etc... and what your serial number is and what ROM works for you.

My problem is that the box is long gone and my Nextbook 7P's serial number sticker is worn off. I want to update the firmware, but can't decide which to use. Also, when I download any of the firmware versions, it asks me to burn a disk...seemed strange, but I tried to do it but it won't burn to any of my clean, new blank cds. Ugh!

You can check your build date in your build.prop file.

Not sure which firmware you've tried, but if it's in an disk image format, it may not be mountable on your PC. It may still be flashable. Make sure you know which tablet model you have though.

I have this tablet, if your having trouble installing apps because you can't install to external storage, Use apktool to extract the APK of the app, then edit the AndroidManifest.xml file so installLocation is set to internalOnly. It is case-sensitive, so exactly as I have typed it. When you re-compile it, to sign it use a APK signing program, like http://code.google.com/p/apk-signer/.

Accidentally bricked the tablet after messing the build.prop. It dont turn on but it is detected on my computer as RK29 Device. TIA.

I tested Kustom Kream for n7p12 custom ROM it turns ON but i cannot use the touch panel.
And downgrade it Finless ROM 1.4 --- touch panel works fine but no sound and wifi and panel buttons dont work.

The serial number is on a label on the back of the tablet. It is also on the box if you still have that.
