    Build.prop defines the SDK level and trust me if you change it, all hell breaks loose

    ro.build.version.sdk=19

    It is set to 19. Not sure why Netflix is saying otherwise.

      By the way, on my ROM I spoof Nexus 10 in build.prop

      HOWEVER, one thing I have never tried yet is to change the finger print.

      ro.build.description=k200-user 4.4.2 KOT49H 20140618 test-keys
      ro.build.fingerprint=MBX/k200/k200:4.4.2/KOT49H/20140618:user/test-keys
      ro.build.characteristics=mbx

      If someone can pull these from a device that delivers HD (something that is on KitKat 4.4) and replace them on the X8, it might do something?

      Just a guess.

        Is Netflix looking for DRM API and maybe it is not finding it? I am not sure.

            Bob I think spoofing to nexus 7 is better because even skygo will not work on nexus 10 , we need nexus 7

              I can make a simple build.prop updater ZIP easy enough.

              I need the build.prop file from a real Nexus 7 on KitKat.

                Well.. That didn't help. OS API is still at 15 and Netflix resolution still at 1350 kbps 480i. I guess, it is something else.

                I have attached the build.prop from my Nexus 7 2013.

                  You may have done this but thought of asking you this. Have you followed the following steps before testing Netflix?
                  1) Go to settings-->apps -->Netflix-->clear cache, clear data--->uninstall
                  2) Make the changes to build.prop
                  3) Restart the device(this step is very important)
                  4) Clear cache and clear data for Google Play and Google Play services
                  5) Open Google play and install Netflix.
                  6) Test it now. Also check the Netflix settings to see if build number changes are reflected in the app.

                    May be there is some piece of code somewhere in the firmware which is still referring to Ice Cream Sandwich code? May be copy paste thing which is carried over to kit kat too?

                      Yes. I did all that. I even removed by Google account and added it again.

                        I don't know why for you guys netflix shows 15 as OS API. In my Galaxy Note 2 it shows 19.

                        I can't check what it says in the Minix because I'm not at home at the moment.

                          May be Minix can answer it?

                            Maybe....
                            And maybe that's the reason why I get a bitrate of 1750kbps on my note 2 with the app that I modded with a friend, but other people only get 1350kbps in their x8

                            It sounds strange but who knows...

                              Does your Note 2 have a locked bootloader?

                                I never had to worry about unlock the bootloader like some users if I'm not wrong, so I guess that's because Samsung doesn't lock the bootloader?
