N101 ADHOC Wifi Fix

OK Folks, not sure anyone has noticed but the N101 by default will not connect to Adhoc Wifi networks. In fact Adhoc networks will not even show up in the list of available networks!
I am told this is an Android feature but that doesnt make sense to me.

So here is a fix. This is a new wpa_supplicant file that supports adhoc networks.

Instructions:
1) Download the wpa_supplicant.zip file and unzip the wpa_supplicant file to your sdcard.
2) You need a root file explorer. You can get ES FIle explorer free from Google Play.
Now ES file explorer does not browse or mount system as RW by defualt. SO once you first launch ES File explorer do the following:
Go to setting for ES file explorer.
Go into file settings and turn on Show hidden files then back up one level
Scroll down to Up to Root and turn that on
Scroll down to Root Explorer and turn that on
Turn on mount file system RW

3) OK so back out of setting and navigate to /system/bin
4) Rename wpa_supplicant to wpa_supplicantold
5) Navigate to your SDcard and copy the wpa_supplicant to /system/bin
6) Hold your finger on the wpa_supplicant file and in the pop up, scroll down to properties
7) In properties click the change button so we can change the permissions
8) Make sure all 9 boxes are checked for permissions and click OK.
9) Now just properly power off your N101 and power back up.

BING! You now have Adhoc wifi support!

Try the wpa_supplicant file on your 10b G3. If it doesnt work you can just remove it and rename the original. I have a feeling it will work for the 10b G3 though. Worth a try for sure!

Bob , unfortunately for me I "completely" rely on your expertise and would not know how to go about changing anything !! I understand that you have a walk thru above but just a bit to scary for me to try ( looks for embarrassed smilies !)

I shall await any further roms that you so kindly furnish us with for the 10bg3.

I do however believe that I will follow the leader for any future tablet purchases ( ie Yuandao n101 ) as this is where most progress will be made ?

Make a post in the 10b G3 thread and ask Snakekiller to try this WPA file. I am sure he will test it for you. If it works I will put it in my next ROM for the 10b G3.
