    Machspeed trio droid 7c 2.3

    Hi All,
I've got a machspeed trio android 7-c 2.3, I've rooted it and cleaned it up.. what I can't do it get it into recovery mode. I've tried all the button combinations, tried adb reboot recovery and download. do any of you have any other ideas as to how to get it into recovery so I can dump the rom for playing? or does anyone have a rom for this device I can play with? I'd love to see ics on this, as it's gingerbread 2.3.1 right now.
    it's an rk2918 board.

ok, so far, I managed to dump the rom from adb, and now I'm trying to get clockwork to install on it, but I don't know enough about modding/building a rom to work with it. I've managed to mount the system.img, but can't get the recovery, boot or backup img's to mount.

ok, more stuff. I'm a modding junkie, always have been. I've managed to unpack or mount the backup.img, system.img, recovery.img, and boot.img but no luck on the kernel.img or misc.img. still working my way through it piece by piece.

I put up my unpacked backup.img file in a zip
http://stjohnsmail.com/android/backup.zip if you prefer the img I can put that up too.
        thanks in advance.

in the parameter file, I see
        COMBINATION_KEY: F,0,1
I have no clue what key combination that is, as I can't get it to boot into recovery, and I think I've tried pretty much every key combination there is. Is there a translation of what the key codes are somewhere?

I CAN get it to boot into download/flash mode though.

OK so kernel.img cannot be mounted. It is just a binary file with the rkcrc wrapper.
Misc.img is nothing but mostly blank data. Misc.img is what tells the system at boot what to do. e.g. boot, boot to recovery, etc. You will find if you flash only misc.img it will boot into recovery and format the system.

Reboot recovery is neutered on many tablets in the kernel!!!! How this works is when you issue the reboot-recovery command at the OS level the kernel is suppose to write to misc.img so on next boot, the boot loader knows to go into recovery. Well because most these manufacturers put a stripped down recovery in the ROM, they took out this in the kernel so people would not erase the NAND! The stock recovery has NO menu. When told (by flashing misc.img) all it does it load up and format the system.

So forst thing is to have a REAL recovery like my CWM, you have to make a real recovery.img!!!

Now to boot into recovery this is why I had Petrus make a reboot app. Since the kernel does not write to misc.img Petrus reboot APP will do that (you need to be rooted though) and you will reboot into recovery! But warning, if you use this with the stock recovery, it will reboot into recovery and erase everything.

          Hope this helps,
          Bob

I don't know how to make a recovery.img. I did find vurrut's 2918 non touch recovery that I should be able to install.

edit: oh, didn't see that you had made one. I'll go look for that one.

I wish you luck with that. Every CWM I have made required customization to work on a specific device. Let me know if you need help. Seems like your capable of pulling apart much of a RK29 ROM so I think with some help, you can make a CWM.

just thought I'd mention that it does have a recovery. found it when using petrus' reboot tool.
