Minix Neo X8-H stability problems

I've tried Beta002,003 and 004 now. I get random soft resets on those BETA roms. Sometimes it resets while watching a movie and sometimes after a period of inactivity of the system, when I move the keyboard or mouse then it soft resets also.

You should back to stock firmware if that's the case.
I believe that was something wrong when you did the reflash.
Probably old data left over and messing the system up.

I am having reboots on all the betas also. On some of the betas I used the Finless flash zip which automatically wipes all data. On some I used the flash tool and again wiped all data. I had reboots using both methods of flashing so its not being caused by left over data.The original official ROM seemed stable but not the betas.

BTW guys, what's the difference between 'soft reset' and 'reboot' ?

Soft reset takes just little time. Screen goes black and then logo appears and soon back to home screen. Like explorer used to crash in windows xp but just faster.
Reboot is same like u reboot ur box.

Please test without these things, and put the box on a cool, isolated flat surface.
We had a few reports putting the box on a heat source and made it overheated and reboots.
Fixed simply by leaving it alone.

Removed everything exept mouse from usb ports. Put it on a coldplate I had in the freezer. Still having stability problems and reboots.

I got the feeling that the cause of the random reboots with the betas could be page changes they made in the boot.img.
Whoever there is no one better than Minix to know what they changed and why. therefore they probably know already how to fix it for next beta or official.

Oh yeah, i'm on the original shipped ROM.

this is why youve never seen a reboot. upgrage to (please dont tho yet) beta 003 or higher and you will.

soft reboot is basically a shell restart in our case, so only you see boot animation and only the OS restarts as well as systemUI... not he whole phone. You probably won't see the (first boot screen) Splashscreen after this type of "soft/warm reboot.. youll just see your launcher and maybe some apps restart...

a hard reboot will reboot like if you pulled the battery/pulled the power cable out and powered back on. youll see "bios info"(splashscreen) AND boot animation. So the whole phone 'restarts' instead of doing a 'warm reboot' .
