All of the sounds that sound like a click are either the keyboard / effect clicks OR the lock and unlock click sound. All of those I recognize and it is not like the "click" I get when I first come out of sleep and press the screen to unlock. That click is a unwanted sound that is not in the list of sounds in /system/media/ui.

So I think we all may have something different going on?

    Happy birthday Bob.

check my posts @ vondroid. there are two hardware, i guess, issues
    - brightness bellow 30% causes a continuous hissing sound (high frequency sound like)
    - there is a background noise when speakers are turned on. speakers are turned on when receiveing signal and off at 2-3 seconds after no more signal. when turned on, the clicking sound is heard, as the signal pops into speakers. that's why when you open keyboars, it might be possible not to hear the first key touch

another thing: turned on tablet, didn't make any sound. untill the first sound after boot, speakers where continuosly on, so background noise and some hissing. played a sound and everything went ok.

also, happened to me to hear those clicks with screen off while charging.

sorry for typos, but i wrote from tab and was in a hurry

    good luck

Yes I read your post on Vondroid a while ago. I am telling you I do not have clicking or hissing as I read what you said and tried to see if I could recreate it.

Just to be sure, I turned the screen all the way down and turned volumes all the way up.
I then opened an email and typed on the keyboard, etc. No hissing sound at all! But yes I do sometimes miss hearing the first keyboard click. So I know about that issue and the first key click.

        I have good hearing too!

So again the only time I get a unwanted pop, FYI to me it sound more like a pop like the speakers just turned on, is when coming out of sleep and touching the lock screen. I get a "pop" just before hearing the unlock click sound. Same thing if I have not typed for a while and bring up the keyboard. I miss the first key click but I get a pop like the speakers just turned on.
BUT I GET NO hissing sound or any kind of other sounds. In sleep I also get no sounds like others are talking about.

Sorry... maybe my hardware doesnt have this problem.

Turned up screen brightness and hissing is gone!

This is the same problem that LCD TVs have as well it is something to do with the backlight

Bummer Daman... I dont have this issue seriously. It's probably to do with whatever powers the back light. Like a flourecent ballast for instance. Some are EME noisy and some are not. When they are noisy, audio system can pick that up. It could also be how it is wired inside. Maybe some of them the wires powering the back light are too close to the speakers or speaker wires?

Just guessing as to why some have this and some don't.... I am glad I don't have this as unless I am outside, I run my screen brightness real low.
