Its got to go back its a hardware failure.
Like all electronic devices its a risk we get a dud but warranty covers this.

In my case it was just more annoying because my better half got it as a birthday gift and had to go through some trouble to do so (got to love Canadian customs).

Yes present your better half a defekt birthday gift is really annoying

i normally also love our german sellers and their fast return policy in such a case, but the device was not available here and i heard some good things about it and shoping with geekbuying.
The device itself is okay, but this poor soldered hdmi port...

Hope it will not travel around the world and i have to wait for weeks to get a new one...

Now the stock in our warehouse is all 107k4 or 105k4, transmart is working on the OTA update, and will release the 108K4 this week with 108k4, after that, we will flash all of the stock device to 108k4, and then ship orders.

Thanks but I'm referring to the hardware version which the HDMI issue is fixed (I hope).

I wouldn't count on that being the case.

The info comes from geekbuying and as i found out that company quite less the honest.

The HDMi issue is much more wide spread then they lead on and getting a replacement seems to have more to do with luck and divine help.

They certainly jerked us around and gave enough excuses that they could have run for public office.

Its essentially a crap shoot on if one got a hdmi problem or not since it due to bad soldering of the hdmi connection.

I would hope by now that this as been addressed at the factory since it seemed to effect more then just the tronsmart.

There is a long thread on how to fix it now since more then a few people ran into this.

I would go with the minx x8-h or the probox2 ex from a different seller.

Frankly geekbuying says one thing but its proving another in terms of having these s89 fixed.

Too many people are getting box's now with the same flaw and people are receiving replacements that are also broken in other ways.
Doesn't really show reliability from this company in either testing or manufacturing.

Kubuk received one that over heated and rma it.he Got a box that had the hdmi flaw and returned it. The latest box doesn't have working analog sound.
All over the period of five months and he just one example..

Just as a heads-up, I bought 2 X8-H units from GB a few months ago. One works like a dream, providing us with only media happiness. The other has random black screens that are driving me crazy and may be related to this HDMI problem. I'd recommend the X8(H) over other AML S802 devices any time, if they'd only address issues which seem to be due to poor manufacturing or quality control.
