DroidTv M8 - Moving apps to ext Sd Fail

Ok, I ran into a lil snag regarding moving apps to ext. Sd on a M8(8gb version) square box. The only reason for wanting to do this, is when the platform will be used for gaming as well(and trust me it does handle any game I ran so far with ease) it will populate the internal memory very fast and you will be left with "Out of memory" issues.

I've read that Google's Kitkat made changes so that the normal app2sd apps don't work anymore:

There were several solutions to move app data to ext.SD and I favored the Link2sd method.
This sorta leave a shortcut on internal while actual data is left on external SD, similar to a "symlink", which is basically a shortcut to file. That actually means that any app can now be moved to external sd and still work.
Here is link to app on Google playstore:

1.First I installed Bob's Easy root Update ,because I found that box was still on stock rom. So no problem there.

    2. I then installed "Link2Sd" from playstore and made the second partition ext2 like they wanted and tried after several failures of the app up till ext.4 partitions, only 2xFat32 partitions seemed to work for a while.

3.So I got to move Angrybirds game as test, the problem was that some internal data files couldn't be moved to the second fat 32 partition due to that android sees it as unsecure and can't allow it because android can't enforce permissions on fat32.That will leave huge chunks of the games hidden data on internal SD,like for example Asphalt8 has about 1.3gb downloaded data that couldn't be moved, but game apk can be moved.
The ideal would be to move the data to any ext.2-4 partition, thus enabling of moving complete app.

This left the exercise moot, because you will be moving only a quarter of the game files while rest will stay behind and thus populating the internal memory fast.

So please forgive me if my terminology is wrong
I got the M8 working beautifully for my buddy(by rooting it and updated to Xbmc 13.1), this is my only problem remaining(even got the 1/4 Zoom effect cleared in updating XBMC)

I would like to put it out there for a solution to anyone interested, this will be highly appreciated

Thanks so much for the reply
I think I would receive the M8 in about 3 days time and will test and give my feedback

Firstly thanks Washere for all your informative posts on the M8 square regarding correct firmware flashing etc. I appreciate it much.
Bob, thanks again to take the time to develop your great rom,we're lost without you!

Washere,I installed the Sdfix succesfully and reboot the box, used "Link2SD plus" to move whole AngryBirds game (now just to figure out how big can the ext3 partition be for huge games like Asphalt8)
        Sidenote:
1.link2sd will not function if you use hacked app,pay it's cheap
2.Washere method of installing finless rom, oman xbmc and advanced xml will make your life easier!!

        ***UPDATE***
Ok, so I installed Foldermount[ROOT] and tested it with Asphalt8-Airborne and was pleasantly surprised when it moved the whole 1.3gb OBB files to normal fat32 sd card.
I tested it on a normal 4gb sdcard just to see if it works and did play the game well.
I do recommend a class10 as so would others(so not to experience lag/crashes).

The link2sd works as well, but have to format sd card in 2 partitions(one fat32,other ext.2 to 4). The foldermount app is very straight forward and works in fat32

          Hi,

          I have try Link2SD(payed version).

          It is working. I have create a 2gb fat32 parting and a 30gb Ext4 partition.

But FolderMount I have try to mount the OBB folder for Asphalt 8 to /data/sdext/data/obb/ (second partition mounted in EXt4), but it look like the move doesn't work.

I had create the folder /data/sdext/data/obb with the same right as the other folder Link2SD had create.

Maybe I have to try with a 20bg fat32 partition and a 12gb ext4 partition, to move OBB file on fat32 partition ?

          Regards

Hi, Foldermount only works in fat32 as far as I can tell and link2sd uses the ext4 partition. So if you wanna try Foldermount I suggest to make the fat32 larger. I only use foldermount for now(testing purposes) I want to see which would benefit us the best in long run regarding stability and ease of use
The only thing I like about foldermount is that you don't need ext4 partition, only Fat32. Makes it easier for users to format only one partition in Sd and still see their files in windows enviroment,my 2c

              Hi

              I have done it.

              I have a 21gb fat32 partition pour foldermount and a 9gb ext4 partiton pour link2sd

Now i can move obb file and /android/data with foldermount and i still can move apk, lib dex, cache with link2sd.

              It is just so col.

              Have a nice day everybody.
