    Pipo P1 RileyROM 1.2 (RK3288)

After some testing, it appears that some people are having trouble flashing this ROM. So this time, I went way back to my ROM development roots, and through the course of trial and error and extensive testing, I think this ROM should work for you.

This ROM is based on yet another Pipo firmware update, dated 7.31.14. I have no idea what has changed.

I seem to have trouble getting IDB to erase on my PC, but I'm trying to solve that problem. If anyone else is encountering the same thing...or if anyone has been able to erase IDB, please let me know. I need to know if it is a driver issue on my PC...or something else.

I'm using the new flash tool from Rockchip for this ROM, so the terminology and look will be just a little bit different than my RK3188 ROM's.

    1. Download the ROM Kit for your version (wifi or 3g).
    2. Unzip the kit on your desktop, or wherever you downloaded it.
    3. Open the AndroidTool.exe
    4. With your tablet turned on, with USB debugging turned off (in settings), plug in the USB cable. Be sure to always use the USB cable that came with the tablet.
    5. Make sure the USB drivers are installed for the Rockchip device. (see the First Time User's Guide for details, if you are having trouble)
    6. You should see the tablet recognized by "Found One MSC Device" in the bottom of the tool.
    7. Click the Flash Mode button to reboot the tablet to flash mode. The screen will turn black.
    8. Click Erase IDB. It will count to 100% (very quickly).
    9. Click Flash ROM
    10. When the flash is finished, the tablet will boot into stock recovery and will format your partitions.
    11. First boot will take a little longer than usual...just be patient and watch the boot animation.
    12. Once the tablet boots to the system...you will have a fresh, rooted system to work with.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    English as default language
    init.d support added
    Busybox commands added
    Google Play Store fixes added
    Reboot app by Petrus
Your choice of 2, 6, 12gb user app space (select the parameter file you want to flash)

    Download Wifi Only Version

    Download 3G Version

    Enjoy!!!!

        Thanks for the new firmware.
My tablet runs a lot faster and more stable.
But, some applications will not run, due to 'missing' SD card
For example Zinio and Google Earth.
It does not make any difference weather or not I'll use an external SD card. (my U-boot parameter setting is for 6Gb User App space)

An other thing I noticed is a flashing Wlan strength indicator. It flashes every 3...5 seconds, regardless of the connected accesspoint. The SSID name also flashes into an other text, but it changes too fast for me to read.

        Cheers,

        Jacques

It's possible you had a bad flash of the ROM. On first boot, it should go into recovery and format all of the partitions. It must not be formatting your internal SD. I haven't encountered those problems on my P1.

One question...were you able to erase IDB when you flashed? I need to know if I have a PC issue with mine. The percentage goes immediately to 100...and says it completed, but it doesn't really erase anything. It should take longer. I'm trying to fix this...but I need to know that it isn't just my computer.

I have discovered one change you can easily make in the build.prop. Change the wifi supplicant scan interval to 150 from 15. It should smooth things out.

I have Re-flashed it 3x. Each time with no improvement.
The thing that did work (partially) is a full factory reset.
Now Google Earth is running, but still no Zinio.

IDB erase went very fast. It looked like it jumped directly to 100%.
I also noticed that the recovery formating went very fast, as if no formating was executed.

The wifi issue is now gone with the new setting in build.prop.
I'm getting more and more exiting about this tablet.

Yeah, and that tweak will save some battery, too.

It appears that the NAND chip is different on the P1, same as my iFive Mini3 Retina...it won't erase.

My tablet takes a while to format on first boot...about 1-2 minutes. I hope you don't have a weak NAND chip.

Abdul_pt and I are working (he's working...I'm testing) on a TWRP recovery to use for the P1...but you can go into stock recovery and do a wipe/factory reset and see if it clears up your NAND issue.

                    Randy,

When reboting into recovery, I only get "No Command"
                    What am I doing wrong?

Just ignore that message at the bottom. When the recovery screen appear...press power and a menu will appear. Navigate the menu with the volume buttons and press power for your selection.

I guess your NAND problem also affects the recovery system. The best thing to do now is flash my ROM again...and live with the results until we get the TWRP recovery finished.

Thanks, I will wait for the TWRP recovery.
I'm still happy with the results so far.

nand internal SD card keeps eraseing

                              Hello,

I noticed several times my internal SD card /nand looks fine after flash, then after a while everything gets deleted, and the nand is blank.

                              Any ideas?
