Of cause it is bricked... but the question is which kind of brick...
I know also BenniBenassi was able to do a deep soft brick with one of his devices without any change to get it back to live (at UART he see a little bit rest of live)...
If you are from Australia and if it's possible at Australia (e.g. at Germany during the first 14 days we can give it back or do a RMA without any problems), do a RMA...
And of cause your one was dead out of the box or maybe after 1 hour sudenly ...

hahahah
No need though my friend, it is working!!
I cant thank you enough for troubleshooting this with me.
Im not sure what exactly has happened here, but the Matricom firmware was installed (even though i changed it over to linux on the SD card).... Hey, at least its working!?
Maybe you can say with which Linux zip file you try to flash it (I think you rename it), because maybe this one fixes something at the first step that helps to boot (up) to the system correctly ...

Ok, so maybe if someone else is having a similar issue, this is what i did;
1) I downloaded MX_LINUX-v0.10-G18REF_MX2REF-update.zip from here
2) I renamed to UWS102912pusa_121122gbox_ext.zip as per no_spam_for_me's instructions.
3) I renamed the existing UWS102912pusa_121122gbox_ext.zip on the SD to UWS102912pusa_121122gbox_ext.zip.org
This method seemed to install the original firmware i was attempting the first time around (before the brick), which was the Matricom mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip
Hope this helps somone.
Thanks no_spam_for_me for your patience and assistance.
THX
The 'mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip' seams to be contaminated sites... because it seams so they use the "original" recovery SD of the 1.14 (which also exist) and place the 'UWS102912pusa_121122gbox_ext.zip' (for 1.15+) on it and edit the 'factory_update_param.aml'...
EDIT:
because of 20130809 (at build), I think aktually you are at 1.14...
if you like, you can retry to flash the 1.15+ via the SD card (but only if you really want )
Here you find the original g-box midnight mx2 firmware http://matricomhq.com/software-and-roms/mx2-software/
(I think also at 1.14 now you are able to flash it, because midnight use something like encrypted partions, so you need the other way at the first time...)
Find the most reliable customer support for you G-Box and G-Pads online. Access Matricom forums, the help desk, warranty info, firmware updates and more.

I just double checked. I can confirm that i am running 1.15. I accessed 'OTA Updater' which showed me the ROM version.
I am having an issue though. I dont get any Video playback whilst using XBMC. I can heard the audio, however it just displays a black screen. I have tried with the Matricom XBMC edition, as well as a clean version of 13.1 Gotham.
