It's the same with vega on standby... It goes every once in a while from red light to blue light... Like something wakes it up from standby mode...

      getting a bit hot!!

Ok... i installed using toothpick method on the weekend, all went flawlessly.

initial impressions were good, but i have a few bugs:
      1) The unit can get up to 80 degrees using pre installed 'Mx Player Pro' and the video starts stuttering then it cools down!! ( going off a cpu temp app )

      2) random 'blackscreens' for approx 4 secs ... similar to when you change screen sizing. will do it even on home screen, screen saver, even when i was trolling around in es file explorer...
I have a 1080p LCD tv, and have tried turning hdmi detect off in mbox settings, still does it!
      3) script error with XBMC Oman's when trying to use OZ Weather app ( something about a missing PIL)

ps : no more 'wakes from sleep' is a bonus!!

      edit:

almost a week later... and the black screens have calmed down, and i uninstalled mx pro, and just put the basic 'mx player' on, and added the video codec from XDA ( as it's not compatable with the pro version ) and now mx player seems more fluid and only gets up to 70 degrees...

and... only one 'wake from suspend' so far

i also tried the latest 'kodi' vbersion of xbmc... still getting script error from oz weather, there is a topic on it on the xbmc forums ... no fix as yet.

Get rid of weather on media box launcher

Is there anyway to disable weather on mbox launcher? Also 720p xbmc problem is not fixed. Also get a randomly occurring pop noise

It's working great so far. The 1080p XBMC audio sync when streaming over Wifi seems spot on now which is great.

I had to modify the update slightly to replace SuperSU with Superuser and remove the Netflix and cracked MX Player Pro APKs from /system/preinstall. The fact that there is a cracked app bundled is a little distasteful. I also had to do some extra work to downgrade the XBMC version without losing my settings.

Overall, I'm happy though. It's nice to see that the device is still being supported.

EDIT: It seems CEC is now broken. It no longer turns on my Panasonic TV when I turn on the Tronsmart, like it used to. Anyone else having that problem?

EDIT 2: It seems CEC works again, it just triggers the TV slightly slower than before. The Vega takes several seconds to connect to wifi anyway so the extra delay doesn't matter much I guess. Proper audio sync while streaming and greatly reduced startup time of XBMC is more important.

I received my s89 elite yesterday pre-loaded with this firmware. Three questions...

            "6.Add kill-recent-task function" - Where do i access this?

I have tried the MBox launcher and decided I dont like it. It is set as default choice. How do i get to the other one? Will i lose access to the setup itemslike screen adjustments, ethernet etc?

Also, the included xbmc wont load add-ons from the internet via the menu. Is manually adding via zip files the only possible way?

Kill task icon/app is the bottom right icon/tile on the m-box home page.

If when pressing the 'home' button no option for a secound launcher pops up, go to mbox settings and click 'more settings' and then scroll down to home option to see the installed lauchers, you can select from there, and then maybe click to 'always ask' so that it pops up every time you hit the home key
i recommend running m-box first and then jumping over to whatever launcher you decide, so that m-box is running in the background ( im finding if i lauch directly to apex , sometimes i get random black screens for 3 seconds, which i think is b/c i dont have hdmi settings from m-box live in background... ( nstill testing that theorey ) ...

as for xbmc... sorry i don t use it, too many script errors
              archos for me :P

                Thanks Addyhash.

Update: xbmc addons are now loading... On clicking to install an addon xbmc freezes and goes unresponsive for a few minutes but recovers.

Is it possible to patch/change this rom so more apps and games are recognized on google play?

For example fifa 14 games cant be installed.

if you install any of the 'finless' roms, they have a modified build.prop file, and come up as a nexus 10 on google play, meaning almost any app can be installed ( whether they will work is another matter )
the latest finless 1.9 can be found here:

                          s89-h problems on 108k4 stock rom 3.10.33 Oman@ubuntu

                          I have some problems with this 108k4 3.10.33 Oman@ubuntu #1 Tue Aug 5 22:05:15 CST 2014:

                          1. when using teamviewer, some keys give wrong output on s89-h: backspace, enter and the entire alphanumeric keyboard (edit: was normal with 107k4)
                          2. when using teamviewer, I get a black image where there's a video playing in the s89-h
                          3. in x-newa in xbmc the "ok" button doesn't respond like it should (x-newa problem?)
                          4. like in 107k4: when I do "
adb shell wm overscan", this doesn't give the correct output on my crt tv
                          5. like in 107k4: when spoofed as a nexus 10, still can't see some apps
                          6. like in 107k4: 2 apps shown portrait (and rotated), when forced landscape than still not real landscape but portrait stretched.
                          7. 'wakes from sleep' continue like they did in 107k4

                          EDIT 2,3 and 4 solved.
EDIT 1 solved. I think this is a ROM problem. Solution: turn hardware keyboard on and off again.

Google play store, teamviewer quick support. When installed it installs an add-on.
Worked normal in 107k4, not in 108k4. See my previous post. Can you confirm?
