Teclast P98 3G Octa: initial impressions

Success! I've got CWM and all Google Apps including Contacts

I had to update 4-5 Google apps from Google Play, but now everything seems to work (except external SD, see next post).
Contacts are finally syncing 100%.

The issues we still have, are...

* Writing to external SD works for some applications (DoggCatcher) not for others (Wimp - I will ask them to look into this)

The SD card problem has evolved a bit, approximately once or twice every day now I get an error message that the SD card was removed.
This is a brand new Class 10 32GB Kingston microSDHC bought from a reputable Norwegian webshop (no chinese knockoff), but I will see if I have another card that I can try instead just to rule out problems with the card.

Does anyone know if I can extract any logs from the tablet that might tell us more about what's going on with the sd card?

I did flash ROM rripley but I Chinese app and google play still appear. I did not install CMW Recovery because I think they are installed GAPPS. Tool SPFlash put it on the download option.
Hize good or committed some erro or omission?

It's correct that with the current rriley ROM there are still a few chinese apps left.
If you have obtained Root then there are several apps you can use (with caution - don't delete everything you find with a chinese sounding name...) to remove what's left. Titanium Backup is used for this by many.

That is why we wanted to fresh install a complete GAPPS package, but if you don't care that your contacts are not synced between the tablet and your gmail account, then you don't have to worry about CWM and GAPPS.

Yes, didn't help.
The problem isn't just that there is a problem syncing, the problem is rather that the entire Contacts 'engine' is missing.

Fixed it by installing the complete GAPPS package.

I tried to install the CWM Recovery as you say in http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...g-a-Custom-ROM and apparently makes the installation process, but after the reboot into recovery mode, keep doing in the stock recovery (or whatever it's called) and not in the cwm recovery
Furthermore, MTK me Doid tool fails to recognize the tablet.
What am I doing wrong?

if the tablet is not recognized, I suspect you have problems with your Windows drivers as I had.

If you then are able to have Windows recognize the tablet, then I would suggest you install CWM the way I explained:

I will try again to add gapps to this ROM, and clean it up some more. The ROM previously posted was a test ROM, since I don't have one of these tablets.

Yes, I will post another test ROM here. Once we get a working ROM...I will start a new thread for the new ROM.

I'm busy at work today, but I have that on my list of things to do tomorrow. I tried to work on it last night at the firehouse, but we kept getting sent to emergencies (a very busy night).

I have seen the link I sent you yesterday the Chinese forum and noted that refers to version 4.2.2 of android. This tablet (3g Octa core P98) have version 4.4.2
It will serve for this model?
