Boot into Android, download/install Terminal Emulator from the Play Store, and run command:
      Code:
      # cat /proc/mtd
as Super user (type in "su" first, without the quotes).
That will show you the Partition layout and direct you to choose the Linux port, whether "Old MTD" (pre-Matricon 1.1.5) or "New MTD" (Matricon v. 1.1.6 and later).
      ./B

I'm not 100% sure because I never personally ran it, but my fw should work.

Download the firmware and when prompted, select that you are installing on CMX.

Let me know how it goes...

There is an updated version of the board now out - V2. This has the following mtd layout, and no recovery when you press the reset button:
                dev: size erasesize name
                mtd0: 00800000 00400000 "logo"
                mtd1: 00800000 00400000 "aml_logo"
                mtd2: 00800000 00400000 "recovery"
                mtd3: 00800000 00400000 "boot"
                mtd4: 40000000 00400000 "system"
                mtd5: 20400000 00400000 "cache"
                mtd6: 10000000 00400000 "backup"
                mtd7: 18b400000 00400000 "data"
                mtd8: 00060000 00001000 "bootloader"

The supplier gave me a link to a later firmware that is better and also has root in it - still doesn't have a recovery showing when you press the jack plug though.

Install is through a standard format card that has the following files on it:
                    update.zip
                    boot.img
                    recovery.img
                    u-boot.bin
                    factory_update_parameter.aml

Slight update (for anyone who is interested).

Managed to install Openelec on the 1.1 V2 board and it runs very well (probably one of the smoothest I've seen it on an MX box).

Flashed the box with the latest firmware and then copied the 4.2.1 Openelec to the card and renamed it update.zip (deleting the original update.zip). Then rebooted box holding in the reset switch.

After about 20 seconds install started so I released reset switch. Software installed and booted into openelec

Usual problem with needing to switch wireless on after first boot so that wireless network is detected but all is working fine at the moment (currently streaming a file from internet after testing one from NAS).

Other issue I had was logo size changed on boot but looks like it's my Samsung TV being a bit odd and causing box to switch into 1920 mode on startup.

                          It's quite easy (honest )

You'll need an SD card (Make sure it is formatted to fat32 or fat), and a TV (so you can see it's working).

                          1. Download the latest firmware (395 Meg) from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!QQcSjBKZ!_Dq8Az...UpBJEjQqtspF7M

                          2. Extract all of the files contained in the zip to the SD card.

                          3. SD card should then show the following files:
                          update.zip
                          boot.img
                          recovery.img
                          u-boot.bin
                          factory_update_parameter.aml

                          3. Switch off box at wall and insert sd card.

                          4. Press in and hold the reset button (located inside the AV socket). I usually use a cotton bud with the end cut off. Then apply power to the box.

                          5. Keep holding the reset button in until you see the box updating on the screen when you can release it.

                          6. Wait until box reboots after installing the firmware.

                          7. Take SD card out of box and copy a version of Openelec to it (I used the 4.2.1 version).

                          8. Delete the file update.zip from the SD card and then rename the Openelec.zip file to update.zip

                          9. Repeat steps 3 to 6

Openelec should then be installed and display at the next boot/reboot

                            Hi
Could you tell me where to get the version of Openlec you used to do the above steps please?
I tried a version and all it did was boot into recovery, when i tried to select the update.zip (renamed as suggested) it failed on install and aborted.

                            Thanks for any help
