Can someone explain why xbmc needs permission su?

Just curious if someone can explain why permission is needed for all the chmod666 etc etc and what it all means with the m8/xbmc it's the only one that's rooted I have that needs all the permissions.

I can try dude.... if the permissions are not correct on certain files within the firmware issues can arise with hardware decoding on AMLogic devices.
You don't need root to fix the underlying fault but if you have root it's easier to correct the issue as it's done for you on boot. I just screen shot the permission requests then changed them from the terminal, but you can do the permissions swap with es file explorer so the fix is permanent and I don't get the pop ups.

    Hope that makes sense....

Just a small tip if the pop up notifications from su annoy you when xbmc boots up each time. The easiest way to get rid of them is to enter su app > settings > "uncheck show notifications"

          Success

And we can have notification with all apps, but restrict just to XBMC.
