HINT since you know how to mod boot.img.... take the 2nd ram disk from boot for a device (contains the DTB) and use it when making a boot from another device.

Yep that's it! Just use that in the boot from the ROM your porting.
Kernel and system.img should then work.

The ATV1800 ROM brick the square M8 and the round ones!

But I got it ported to my S89 round box now (I use that one because I can unbrick from a hard brick).
Next I will try porting to square box.

But looking at the firmware it's nothing exciting!

After getting it working I am not impressed with the Geniatech firmware at all. Seems to be made off a old AML SDK. So maybe after they do some updates and catch up I will try it again.

Trying to find the pro box 2 software as review from rivers seems to have very nice ui? if we would be able to use in the m8 round box but sdk issues running video in am logic nice but freezing issues and no player support yet. I am sure all those issue s will get resolved but seeing new boxes getting released now hopefully these boxes don't get dropped for new ones. Happy with results to date but my mk902 still out performing the m8. Hopefully some codex support and some new fixes running rooted to get xbmc working has slowed down system. I hear the security issues but even koying says xbmc should not need root permissions to run xbmc? Maybe his right?
