This is incredibly frustrating! I gave up on trying to get the .zip to work (tried just the 'parameter' file). I don't know how to check what size partition I have, or if that's even the problem. I don't know what's causing the logo to just hang.

So I decided to use my original ROM .img files that I backed up previously and built a CWM flashable zip from that. Only I substituted the recovery.img for the one in RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip so that I don't lose my CWM.

I rebooted, and then I get stuck on the four Linux Penguins. So maybe I'm not building the flashable zip right. I don't know...

Since I did a backup in CWM before I decided to go on this crazy endeavour, I decided to restore the backup. System up and running again (of course, without the wifi and bluetooth).

    This sucks.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! This ROM is now working with wifi/bluetooth and everything! Whoohoo! http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...7394-1080p-ROM

I ended up giving up and driving to another friend's house and chancing the whole Windows 8 thing (she lives closer than the other friend). She never upgraded to Windows 8.1. At first, it seemed to be going well with the driver install. I got one step farther and the driver would actually install. But then I would get that USB error thing. So then I realized, "Why don't I plug it in the USB 2.0 rather than the 3.0 I'm using?" And it worked. The USB 3.0 is the USB port in the computer that has the little blue stick thing in the middle, while 2.0 is the black stick inside. I already tried that with my laptop, and neither port would work. But hers it worked fine.

So yeah, the ROM is great. Everything works great! Hurrah!

On the downside, I still need to have my wifi/bluetooth wire sticking out of the end of the stick. I tried moving it around and taping to to different locations within the shell, but I would still get crappy reception (or none at all). Oh well.

I just knew that the ROM link I posted would do the trick and I'll bet you feel on cloud 9 after all the testing and trying

Sure am! It is just a big pain to get out of the house being the mother of little ones (2 & 4).

Weird thing I noticed about the ROM. I flashed version 4 of it, and upon reboot, random icons disappear from the home launcher. I'll put them back, and then other random ones disappear after the next reboot.

I also noticed that xbmc is a little laggy on it.

Try installing the Nova launcher from the play store.

I had this once and with Nova it didn't happen.

Also worth trying an updated XBMC.

I use SPMC now and does the job I want best of all.

Yup. I know about Nova Launcher. I just thought it was odd.

And it came with SPMC, but I couldn't get it to connect with anything (connection errors), so I installed the latest XBMC instead and it connects fine. Just laggy I'm comparison with my i7 laptop.

Actually, the whole system is laggy. Not sure if it's the stick or the custom ROM.

                    Another question...

Where on EARTH is the menu button? The only time I am able to change settings is if there is those 3 vertical dots up the upper right-hand corner. Otherwise, if it's not there and the menu button requires pressing, I am at a loss as to how to do it.
