I downloaded it from the Yuandao site (similar characters as in your link) - but to make sure, I'll download it from your link tonight and try that one. The result of all the Failed ROMs is very consistent: black screen right after flashing.

I just downloaded from Vondroid the 0911 OFW and flashed it.
I get the EXACT same date info for both the kernel and the build date.

I redownloaded from Yuandao the 0908 firmware link I gave above. After flashing that, I also get the EXACT same date.

So I see NO difference in these 2 ROMs.

I am begining to think your having some kind of inconsistant flashing issue. e.g. sometimes it works and sometime it does not. Maybe RKBatch tool works better for you and RKAndroid tool does not!

For instance there is sometimes a BUG in RKAndroid tool that when you erase NAND (IDB) it does not actually do it. If you DO NOT see the count go up to 16384 (which takes a few minutes) and just stays at 0 then comes back and says COMPLETE in a few seconds, it did not erase IDB. This for sure when changing ROMs with different parameter files will brick you to a black screen. So when using RKAndroid tool you have to make sure erase IDB worked. If it did not work, reboot to flash mode, close the tool, open the tool, and try again. It is a intermittent bug I have been unable to fix in that tool. I think this may have something to do with your issues. I notice that the firmware that works for you is always a update.img flashed with RKBatch tool 1.5. I find that interesting.

Interesting.... It appears RKBatch tool also has some bug.

I just flashed 0911. Then flashed back to 0908 and it was a blank screen! The tool did not say failure but it bricked. I rebooted to flash mode and flashed yet again 0908 and it worked the 2nd time.

So there IS for sure some kind of inconsistant flash tool issue!

I be willing to bet my 1.7 ROM will work for you. Just sometimes your getting a flash failure! Maybe try a couple times and MAKE SURE erase IDB counted to 16384!

I'll try your ROM again (while I'm downloading 0908), but I have to say that on my tab the count shows 4096 and it counts up to that - due to a 16GB tab?

I just finished trying 1.7 ROM at least 6 or 7 times and always results in a brick, but everytime I revert back to the OFW 0714, works like a charm first shot with RKBatch. Could it have anything to do with the IDB only reaching to 4096? Everytime it shows a total of 4096 and everytime it counts up to 4096.

OK I will do this. I will make a stock ROM 0911 using RKAndroid tool and NOT TOUCH IT.... I want to see if that works.

Asd for 4096 vs 16385... That is the loader. If you ever flashed a ROM loader NOT made for your tablet YOU CAN HOSE the erase IDB. Trust me I know! I did it myself! My Yuandao was only counting to 1024 because I flashed a ROM not made for my hardware. The loader is SUPER important and flashing a wrong one can screw you up. I did find a way to fix it but it requires taking apart your tablet and shorting 2 pins on NAND.

Maybe tonight or maybe tomorrow first thing I will have this test ROM.

I think I might know whats going on. The kernel in boot.img IS DIFFERENT than kernel.img even though it says the SAME version in settings!
                Stupid Yaundao... WTF?

OK so here is the 0911 as you call it but it is 0908 as displayed in "about device" in settings.
FYI what the flash tool says MEANS NOTHING! Simply when it was packed into a update.img!
The REAL deal is what the tablet says in settings.

Before I start please download this and let me know if it works. That way I know we are working on the same base. I bet you a dollar it is the kernel causing all this. I will figure it out so you can enjoy a 1.7 ROM.

                0911 (really 0908) update.img file:

                  Re: NEW - N101-1 Finless ROM 1.7 - CWM, Init.d (fixed)

Well, I have to say after working with this ROM with kernel #70 for a week or two, I like it very much.

I've read about wifi fixes involving the antenna, but I've shy'ed away from opening the hood, for now.

Reflecting back on the early days of the Snakekiller G3 project, we had some same issues. I wonder if some of the same building.prop tweaks could be added to this ROM. I haven't looked to see if they are already added or not.

I seem to have range issues, and dropping of the IP (even when I'm sitting on top of the router) , but not as bad as with the G3. I did break down and order a new router, today.

Another problem I'm having is when I am downloading large files, like apps, or torrents. The download job seems to take over all the resources to the point that I can't do anything else until downloading completes. Other apps force close, or just freeze. With a dual core processor, I would think that multi-tasking would be more seamless.

I've tried v6 Supercharger and Kernelizer, but those scripts haven't helped when I have a download running. I've tried all the other kernels, and get the same result, so I'm sticking with #70 for now.

I also haven't had any of the same flashing issues that people are mostly posting about. I guess I'm the lucky one.

OK, here are the results (and steps I took):

                    - Boot into flash mode
                    - "Restore" Stock_0911 = Bricked
                    - "Restore" OFW 0714 = OK
                    - Then tried "Upgrade" of Stock_0911 = Bricked

I don't get it! I'm watering at the mouth for your 1.7 ROM (I only read amazing things about it).

Do you see something wrong with the steps?

I am at a loss now seriously!

Can you put the firmware you have that works somewhere I can download it?

You seem to have a firmware that no one else has.

WAIT..... what is this 714 firmware? You did not talk about that before? You said the Vondroid 0911 worked..... I am getting seriously confused now.

It's the 0714 from the Yuandao site and the 0911 was from a link on Vondroid did not have a functioning wifi.

If you still want to look at the firmware...

                          Play store doesn't work

                          Hi there,

This went fine to McPad N101 32Gb version and everything else seems to be working, but the Play store Download?

I get the message RPC:AEC:0 -error when accept to start downloading. I have tried to reset my Google account and etc. what google have suggested, but that doesn't work.

Do you have knowledge what to do?

Google apps problem and Kernel for McPad

Hi, guys, need help here. After I updated apps from the play store, I tried to download another app. But mysteriously, an error occured. It says: ***(app name) could not be downloaded due to an error; error retrieving information from server...

                            Tap “Apps” (in left menu)
Tap “All” (last tab on top right hand side)
Scroll until you find “Google Play Store”. Tap it.
Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
Tap the back button to get the list of apps again.
Scroll until you find “Google Service Framework”. Tap it.
Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
                            Now reboot your device.

That was only way to fix this..

Also if you are using McPads N101 tablet, flash Kernel #26 to the device, Kernel #70 have some issues in sound continuity adding some ripple time to time when application loads. With kernel #26 I didn't found these sound problems. Other Kernels didn't work for McPad N101, just #70 and #26. Others did not booted.
