Since Finless 1.8 I'm sometimes having this issue where the sounds cuts out completely (sometimes every hour, sometimes it just keeps playing, sometimes it needs a reboot to get sound back.
It looks to me like some HDCP issue.[edit:changed DHCP to HDCP. duh]
Turning my amp off and on again restores sound.
I didn't have this issue with earlier ROMs so not sure if you have the same issue.
I need to check with optical to see if I have the same issue then.

No offence, but I doubt ASIO buffer sizing will fix this
(sorry, that describes Windows ASIO settings, which is mostly used for music production)

P.S. so far so good with optical, but I need to test longer to be sure.

To respond to my own post: extra testing with optical cable gave me no further sound dropouts, but I've moved to JustMe 109k4 1.2 and that works perfect with HDMI again.

Cheers. Currently trying finless 1.9 . Not tested enough to see if I still get dropouts. Will try the justme rom if I still get issues. What xbmc does that run ?

It came with XBMC 13.2, not sure if patched or original, but works good enough not to feel like investigating
