      external

Is it possible to wire a external antenna, like the antenna from a wifi router? to one of these devices?I mean I know its possible, but would it work?

I do not see why not. The wire is shielded so you cannot just use any old wire!

          Wifi improvements

So i tried soldering a normal WIFI antenna to my UG802 and it made no difference to the reception. I noted that the unit uses a Realtek 8188CUS chipset mounted on a standard USB connected module. So there should be no issues with the WIFI chipset as it is a commonly used module.

I got a huge improvement on signal strength and no dropouts for about 3 days now by replacing the power adapter to my unit. I am now using a 5v 2.5 amp adapter and i am getting full signal bars abnd about -58db strength (using wifi analyser) with the standard aerial mounted inside the unit.

I don't need to but it was a very good video.

It was neat to see how you open it up. Thank you for that video. It downloaded fast and played good and was long for how short it downloaded a .wmv video.

I learned over many years how to compress a video for decent quality for the Web. Example, low action videos do not need 30 frames per second! That one was 14 FPS. Also compressions levels for web do not need to be low. You learn to compress a video as tight as you can for the content in it so the user experience is still good.

              Glad you enjoyed it

My first thought was to use a router antenna also but the change in power adapter sound like it's worth a try.

Have you had any issues with the UG802 heating up with the change of power adapter? Have you noticed any other differences since you replaced the adapter?

No, haven't had any heat issues, still can't play 1080p mkv's over the network without skipping though

Found an excellent player that plays .ISO files too! wondershare player, point it at a directory on your local or network drive full of .ISO's or DVD structure folders and you get full dvd content with menus! Awesome for a TV device.

My quick expansion of your mod..working well.

I was having inconsistent and often slow speeds and a lot of interference (I pick up signals from at least half a dozen routers most the same model as mine from the cable company). I made a much larger thin cardboard rectangle covered in foil and slightly curved to make the antenna more directional. Because of the location of the cables my router is very close to my tv. I moved the ug802 around and found a position where I could mount it on my wall about 3 feet from my router. I am now getting close to the same speeds upon testing as my I do with my PC to router Ethernet connection and have not experienced any buffering with netflix or xfinity tv player since then.

                        Soon I'm gonna cry

I just registered today to this web site because I would like to try to insall new software to my UG802 miniPC.
I have succeeded to root the Android minipc but I cannot find the finless rom anywhere.
Please, help me to find (link?) suitable software to my UG802 (and some instructons would be nice).

Sorry my poor English but maybe you understand if I tell I'm 54 year old female engineer (from land of Linus T.)

                              Little progress

The little think I didn't understand was to put a tab to the "Remember me" in loging screen.

Anyway. I have downloaded to the ug802_finless14a_sdcard_update_version.zip and unzipped it. I also have microSD card. I have copied update.img to sdcard and plug it in to ug802.
Ug802 detects the sdcard and it asks permission to install update.img but little green Android man won't do anything because it is seen on the screen text: "Unable to mount /external sdcard".

With a terminal I can see the sdcard contents, so I think the sdcard is succesfully mounted(?).
I have twice download ug802_finless14a_sdcard_update_version.zip twice, unzipped etc. but still I get "Unable to mount /external sdcard".

Should I made the sdcard bootable or what? I just copied it from hard disk to sdcard.

This my first time to try to update ug802 and I don't have Windows at home (and will not ever never come; I've been forced to use it since W3.11 at work), that's why choose the easy sdcard update method.
My desktop and laptop are both openSUSE 12.2.

Chances are your sdcard is corrupt! Very common problem on RK3066. See this:

                                http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ard-Corruption!

So fix the SDcard and it will get mounted OK by recovery.
