it seems it has the sensor or uses the cam to detect light level. The auto on mine works okay and keeps the option on even when i turn it off.
But the annoying part is when the battery goes below 20% it automatically reduces the brightness to 2/3 which is hard to see when outside. Can this be disabled?

Have you tried 3G data with it? Does yours show the 3G or HSPA or H+ symbol?

In the meantime I have figured out the root cause of the battery drain: it is the UltraStick modem with causes the higher consumption.

It was already factory installed an as soon as I have taken out the stick, the P8 was able to enter deep sleep mode.

Just wondering if the latest official firmware has the same battery drain issue? I haven't used the official firmware at all that's why I'm asking (went straight to Riley's after unpacking).

Also, how can I flash the latest official firmware replacing Riley's? Do I do that as normal or should a different procedure happen?

You have to use the RKBatchTool to flash the stock firmware. It and the firmware is available on Pipo's site. http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=About&a=gujian

You shouldn't. The stock firmware will just take you back to the 1 or 2gb parameter.

#194 released, seem that power save improve after half of day using.
but stock rom designed 1gb for internal storage only, it dont good enough for most of users. i think.

Works very well here - even if it is in average 800-1k "slower" compared to your previous ROM- Let's see if there is some improvement reg. battery drain.
I use it with Nova launcher and ART - still extremely smooth.
