OK so it looks like Echoa over at XDA has managed to figure out root for the p10/q10 tablets & possibly other aw a31 tablets all credit goes to him for spending about 5 to 6 hours figuring this out.

Not sure this is the right place to post this but here goes. I just bought a Polaroid P10 tablet today. I wanted to root it, but can't find any information available about this product except unboxing videos. Running Kitkat 4.4.2 Kernel 3.3 I...

Dont try Vroot or Kingo theyre malware

Here is working root for the Polaroid Q10/P10/etc. and possibly other 4.4 a31 tablets

    Instructions

Make sure you have ADB installed and working for the tablet, it will work with standard ADB drivers, just look it up im too tired to tell you how to make ADB work

    1. Make sure USB debug and Dev mode are on
    2. Go to settings, backup & restore, then boot into recovery
    3. In recovery select ADB sideload and then in cmd prompt type "adb sideload (path to .zip)" and let it update
    4. Reboot and enjoy root

This was about 5-6hrs of experimenting, credit goes to those who made SU, Chainfire for SuperSu, etc.

    Download

Thanks rubberman and Echoa for the update. Yeah I tried Vroot and Kingo both worthless to root so I've been trying others also to no avail. Tell Echoa thanks so much for getting this to work. I was tired of seeing the out of space error on my tablet!

It has been a while since I did this and I need some hand holding to do this root. Firstly, how do I get to developer mode to turn on usb-debug on this q10. I cannot find the option in my settings. Some earlier tabs had a secret to this but I do not know it with this tablet. I know I can download USB-debug from playstore but what to do after that? Also I never did the sideload thing. How would I do that? Does the tablet have to be connected to the laptop for sideload?

Well so I just rooted mine last night I actually just used the update app on tablet to boot to stock recovery & then flashed the zip file using stock recovery. Cleared cache, rebooted, updated su binary & now I'm good to go. Echoa from XDA suggested that we set the screen DPI to 120 & that it would look better on a 1024x600 resolution tablet. Maybe he will make a custom kernel & recovery now.

U need to tap build # couple times till it tells u that u are a developer & then go to developer settings then to get the settings u need. But if u see my other recent post I was able to flash this zip file using stock recovery & now have full root. Thanks Ron.

              Hi Rubberman:

Congrats on your rooting success. I finally found the developer options. Don't laugh but I was trying to tap on the BN all the way at the bottom. So then I did the recovery and the zip install followed by clear cache and restart. Much simpler than the sideload from laptop by adb. My terminal emulator requires me to use the su command and cpu z says I have root access. So now how do you update the su binary and why? Also which app do you use to set dpi?

Well I Think flashing the zip file Installs SuperSU or u could download it from play store. Then just open SuperSU & let it update binary. Also I have not messed with DPI yet for screen. Thanks.

                    😯
So did u root it by installing zip file thru stock recovery. Why do u need or want side load adb? Also I tried to change stock DPI to 120 with 2 different apps but they wouldnt work? I seen echoa posted on XDA that he opened his up to check it out & then something went wrong & he is stuck in boot loop. I also picked up a really nice wires keyboard case for this made by hip street for $9.99 on clearance at Menard's. I even changed my stock boot animation already lol!

Sorry to hear about Ochoa's mishap loosing his q10. I did the rooting by your procedure -recovery and zip install on external Micro sdcard. I did not see any problem with the display as is . Did you just buy the keyboard case to put the tab in ? I picked up a nice bluetooth keyboard at Walmart that matches with the Q10 for $17. Seems most instructions nowadays include the side loading procedure and I thought I would give it a try to no avail. I keep getting authorization error messages with adb. BTW since Ochoa got his opened already maybe we can ask him what the possibilities are to augment the battery. I did this to a coby battery and trippled the capacity.

I bought the keyboard case like a week ago.

                          Chessir,
I tried to do the adb side load and it didn't work either. ADB knew my tablet was there but when I went to side load the zip file it would not do it.

                          Rubberman,
Do I need to load the zip to the SD card or does it have to be on the PC since I'm using ADB to side load the zip? I saw where you flashed the zip from stock and that rooted this tablet. Is it better to flash the zip instead of side loading it? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

If you have the terminal application installed on the tablet, the setting for this *should* be in the build.prop. The entry should be named something like "ro.sf.lcd_density=120" Been a while since I played with my ROM on the tablet itself, so you may have to change permissions to write to it for it to stick....
