FYI, while people are saying it is an improvement looks like we still do not have it fixed but I think I am on the right track.

I may want to try something completely different. Instead of using the ug802 ROM as a base and taking files from another ROM. It might be better to use the other ROM as a base and put in the ug802 things that need to be there like no rotation, air mouse, ethernet, etc etc etc.....

So I am going to let this run a little longer but I may put out a new system.img today to try another approach.

What do you all think?

Yes give this beta version testing some time for more user feed back. Wait a few days and see.
I do think your close I just wanted to nail it down to the exact millisecond if possible.
Right now we are all guessing whats out of sync and by how much.

Also if possibly put that avi test file in your original post #1 so people see it and use it.

As for other builds, I don't see why not and try a different direction.
Sometimes different angles achieve better results. If you have the time we all support your efforts.
But again that your speciality so do what you do best my friend.

Sync

I started to test the new ROM and it sounds better. the test video (blinking square) is synchronized, but with full length video it is not perfect. there is still a delay.
when I seek forward the sound completely goes off.
I don't have right click on mouse anymore. have to click the icon for going back.
I still have the annoying 'parasites' like noise when I go 1920x1080. I am on Samsung D5500.

OK so let me explain my idea.

For this BETA ROM what I did was take some LIB files, etc from my Yuandao N101 ROM which has NO sync issues at all with video. The screen size on this device is 1280x800. DAMN close to the 1280x720 size of the ug802 (yes that is it Android OS screen size). So we made some progress I think.

BUT what I would like to try is using the complete Yaundao N101 system.img and see what it does with sync. I have booted this on my ug802 and wifi etc works. Using this as a base and fixing the key and mouse stuff (easy) might be easier if the sync issues are fixed! Then I wont be guessing anymore.

We might make faster progress if I know which base to work the most on?

So who would like to test that now as a BETA2?

different direction seem another good choice, as i guess the solution must be somehow deeper into ug802 rom. having the slight delay too which improved with this beta. its really hard to tell with the test movie, if its 0ms or up to 160ms behind audio - 40ms would be my choice... ;-) tried another hd avi and having delay too, no matter if emediacenter or google video player.

but all in all in feels snapier for the short time of testing.

I also did the test with the test file and the result are quite peculiar:
MXplayer with s/w audio disabled OR Stock player: Sound lags behind until 0ms, then ALL beeps and squares are synced until the end of the movie.


MXplayer with s/w audio enabled: choppy playback (square stays visible far longer than it is supposed to) up to 0ms, from then 0 & 40ms seem to be synced. After that audio begins lagging behind.
As previously stated, the last combo works almost flawless for me when streaming a 1080p mkv-file via wifi from nas.
(ps I always open videos with ES file manager, dont know if that matters.)

I wouldn't mind testing the Yaundao img, because the results we are getting right now seem kind of random
Maybe its easier to tinker around with resolutions if the Yaundao sync is spot on. resolutions have less gray area, they are either correct or incorrect (says the noob )

It's coming today! I will have 2 versions of the Yuandao ROM to test.

One is a straight Yundao system.img. Trust me a lot will not work for you like advanced settings etc! I have added a reboot app to reboot to bootloader so you can flash a ROM again! Without it you would be stuck doing the screw driver trick to get into flash mode because the advanced ug802 settings are not there.
WHAT I want to see from this test is pure video sync! You will see some screen artifacts from the Yuandao EGL drivers. But this will tell me what is going on much more! Is it EGL derivers? OPenGL, etc.... Expect to not like this ROM much but remember what we are trying to do.

The other one will be 99% yuandao but I have added the ug802 APPs and framework so other stuff works more and we can see if this broke sync over the pure Yuandao ROM.

Stay tuned I am cooking them up now.

Keep on with the hard work. i have passed similar awfill situation like yours i did some tweaing for the mini pc (cx-01 or cx77 and the u1a host) now im still waiting for the ug802 device. i can be a beta tester too. by the moment im downloading the C BEta version

i hope on friday i get the device if not next week.
