That probably explains why it was taking so long...

I can't really recommend anything slower than a Class 10 / Ultra 1 sd card for Android... When I find a good sale, I can usually get name brand 32 GB Class 10 cards for $15 to $20 and on a really good sale, I can find 64 GB ones for around $30-$35.

I definitely have 4GB app space now, which is the parameter file I flashed that supposedly failed. I already have installed roughly twice as many apps as I was previously able to, and still have nearly 2 1/4 GB left. However it happened, I'll take it. Thank you again for your great work.
Yes... you understood correctly. The parameter patch process works like this:
      • Backup some stuff
      • Flash the new parameters
      • reboot recovery to load new parameters
      • reformat partitions that changed size
      • restore stuff to the new parameter locations

In your case, it sounds like everything worked, until the restore steps...

Ok. I will try doing it overnight and see what happens. When I try to turn on tablet now, I see your Freaktab ROM by ShaunMT image, then the screen just goes blank. Battery is fine. Maybe thats common, who knows...

Sounds like the boot partition was flashed successfully, but not the system partition...

You should be fine, you just need to get the whole thing to complete installation.

Can someone who knows what they are doing please help me?

I tried the TWRP flashable partition patch and after waiting for literally two hours, it tells me I have errors. I couldnt tell you what the errors were. So I went back into TWRP and did a 'Wipe' --factory reset so I could at least use this stupid thing. Before I tried the flash as well as now, when I turn on the device I get the Freaktab.com bearded guy screen for 1 second then it goes blank...absolutely nothing. I'm just a little pissed right now...Can someone please at the very least instruct me on how to get this thing back so I can at least use it... Thank you.

First... a factory reset doesn't do what most people think it does... a factory reset is the same as doing wipe data and wipe cache... it doesn't touch your system partition where the android os is located...

Second, your system partition is messed up because the parameter patch moved it to a new location in your internal nand memory and then failed to restore it from the backup it made.

Finally, to fix it, you just need to reflash my ROM from TWRP, which will reinstall the system to the new correct location in nand memory.

You might also need to wipe data and/or reformat your internal sdcard partition, but I doubt it.

If you have any trouble flashing the ROM, you might need to wipe the system partition and then flash the ROM again.

Thanks for your time and help, ShaunMT and others here for helping out a complete stranger who is brand new to Android. Heck, I dont even have a smartphone yet. I tried everything again overnight and it worked this time. I'm not sure why it worked this time and not the other time, but I'm not complaining. Now I just need to research TWRP to discover all of its capabilities and what the heck it is, and enjo this tablet to its full potnetial. Again, thanks everyone. You all should be proud of yourselves.

Sometimes reading or writing to nand memory chips just fails.... especially in budget devices that tend to use lower quality chip components...

Glad you got everything working. This is a nice device for the price and I hope you enjoy it.

So I did the TWRP Recovery and it went well. I tried to install the Parameter Patch and now it says I don't have an OS. The little message says this:
                          Updating partition details
                          E: Unable to mount '/system'
                          Full SELinux support is present
                          MTP Enabled

Then I tried your suggestion of reflashing the ROM from the TWRP. Didn't work. It says
                          Installing 'external_sd/SMT-NX785QC8G.....'
                          Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 Check: no MD5 file found

There's a new zip file on my SD card called "System_Restore.zip" As well. Any help would be great. Seems like I had the same problem as mjatmjatmjat only reflashing didn't work. Would you advise the wipe of the system partition?

Yeah, something went wrong with the backup and restore to move your system to the new location for the new parameters.

Wiping system couldn't hurt and will reformat that partition for you.

Then flashing the .zip version of my ROM should work. No need to flash parameter again, unless you want to change to a different one.

The wipe worked sort of. It said it was successful but is sitting there saying "Updating partition details..." How long does it take do that?
