No, 64bit doesn't atomatically increase performance, it is true only in theory (more bandwidth), the real benefits on 64bit is that:
on devices that use 64bit operative systems can be installed more than 4Gb of RAM, and can handle 64bit native code. In that devices, also 32bit apps can be used without problems.
